The COVID-19 pandemic has also brought us some good things. And one of them is a greater environmental awareness and the certainty that the ecosystem and human health are intimately related.
Green electricity, also called clean energy, does not generate polluting substances or greenhouse gases, ensuring maximum respect for biodiversity and for people.
Stopping climate change through the use of renewable energy has become the best vaccine for our future.
"The ecosystem and health are related.”
Where does it come from?
Nature is full of resources that can be converted into electricity. These are the main sources of renewable energy:
The sun. The source of solar energy.
It is produced by means of solar panels, which transform the sun into two types of energy:
- Photovoltaic solar energy. The type that is extracted from the sun's rays when they hit solar panels.
- Thermal solar energy. The type that derives from the concentration of heat that comes from the sun's rays.
The wind. The source of wind power.
Wind is converted into electricity through a mechanical system that turns a turbine generator.
Water. The source of hydroelectric energy.
When electricity is extracted from the force of fresh water coming from rivers, streams or reservoirs.
Organic waste. Sources of biomass.
Energy that is produced from the decomposition of bacteria typical of organic matter which comes from plants or animals.
The sea. Tidal power source.
Tidal movement is used by a system of turbines that transform it into electricity.
The interior of the Earth. Geothermal energy source.
The heat that the planet radiates under the earth's crust can also be converted into electricity, which in this case is widely used for heating and cooling systems.
A simple and cheap choice
Green electricity does not imply any complications or push up the cost of bills. The key is that once it is extracted from its natural source, it goes into the distribution grid, so that the end user does not notice any difference between it and energy that does not come from renewable energies, since in both cases the end user will receive the same quality and power of energy.
On the other hand, since it is a resource which originates in nature itself, its exploitation costs are moderate, something that is not the case for non-renewable energy, whose final price depends on many more factors such as the prices set by the producing countries.
The fact that green energy is unlimited, compared to conventional energy that can be used up, also affects the final price.
We will always have sunshine, but we cannot say the same for oil.
With every guarantee
How can we be sure that the energy received is 100% green? It's very simple. Clean energy is regulated by the European Union, through the so-called Electricity Origin and Labelling Guarantee System. Thus, official bodies check that the process complies with all requirements, guaranteeing that the energy that reaches the final consumer has been obtained from renewable sources.
How do I sign up for it?
Going green is very easy and won't cost you any more. Unica by Endesa is a new, different way of using energy, including electricity and gas from 100% sustainable sources.

Within everyone's reach
Green electricity does not differentiate between rich and poor countries, nor is it more or less accessible to one or the other.
This means that it gives the entire population the same right to access energy.
Unlike conventional energies, the supply of renewable energies is not subject to political or economic dependencies, which it is, for example, in the cases of gas and oil.
In addition, as we mentioned at the beginning, it meets a universal need that unites us all behind the same goal: consumption that is more responsible and which guarantees our future.
Because if it is good for the planet, it is also good for all of us.
