The forward march and day to day of COP25 continues - while the negotiating teams carry on with their work, the activities of the Summit’s participating and collaborating institutions and entities go on.
In the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) pavilion , managed by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations, the day on “Partnerships for action against energy poverty and climate change” was held today, organized by Ecodes and with the participation of Endesa, togther with other companies and organizations. The aim was to confirm and show various examples of how alliances between entities in different fields can be transformed into ways to solve problems as important as energy poverty and, at the same time, act against climate change. All of this within the framework of SDG7: "Affordable and clean energy" and for its fulfilment it has been demonstrated that we must relate it to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
Virginia Ocio, Endesa’s head of Circular Economy, explained exactly what the details of the Reluce project are, developed on a proposal from Ecodes and in collaboration with Endesa, and whose first characteristic is precisely that it is possible thanks to the alliance between the three entities: Endesa, the municipality of Calatayud and Ecodes.
"It is an innovative management system that involves charging, via prepayment, of electricity for a vulnerable group. The objective is to demonstrate if such a system could become a good tool enabling vulnerable families to consume efficiently, control spending and also to test if a reduction of power could be an alternative to a cut in supply, which is one of this group’s main problems right now”. It is also about seeing how "the management of invoices by the municipalities that take care of them could be improved, because there is no control of consumption on the part of these families."
