Endesa awarded prizes this weekend during its first Hackathon, a meeting in which young innovators came together to present a total of 10 projects aimed providing real energy efficient solutions. The winning idea of this first edition of the Endesa Hackathon was an app that enables inefficiencies and heat loss to be detected in your home via thermography-based sensors that detect temperature differences. The team behind the “Thermoman 360º” project received 6,000 euros in prize money from the jury.
The second prize, consisting of 3,000 euros, went to the “Sungarden” project, a platform that integrates the generation of renewable energy produced by individuals and the electricity demand of end users.
The third prize of 1,000 euros went to the project, “Endesa makes better”, an app that teaches children and raises awareness among them about energy consumption through fun and entertaining challenges. This application designed to make children efficient consumers in the future, enables them to accumulate points and even compete with their classmates to see who consumes less energy, thus also raising awareness among parents.
The meeting was held on the 27th and 28th of November and 40 young innovators worked in teams of four, with 5 minutes to present their projects to a jury of experts.
The first Endesa Hackathon was a huge success, with over 200 applications received from all across Spain and abroad and the presence of international experts coordinating the work, following latest innovation methodologies, such as Design Thinking, contributed towards customers being the main focus of solutions that will be offered by the most innovative minds. Design Thinking is an innovation discipline designed to match people’s needs with what is technologically feasible and what a viable business strategy can convert into customer value and market opportunity.
