1. Documents needed to register for a new electricity supply
To register for a new electricity supply, you need the following documents:
- C.I.E = Electrical installation certificate or electrical certificate: A mandatory document in all properties, whether new or second hand, to ensure that the electrical installation is safe and does not pose any danger.
In the case of new installations or newly built properties, the electrical installer will issue the CIE and give it to you.
- CUPS is the Universal supply point code: It is a 20- or 22-digit alphanumeric key used to identify each home or business that receives electricity. Like a car's number plate.
This code is provided to you by the electricity distribution company in your area. You can check it simply by providing your name, ID and address of the property.
- Contract holder's details: You will simply need the address of the house or premises where you want to register for the electricity supply, name and ID of the contract holder and a bank account to set up a direct debit for the bills.
- Power and type of tariff: The last step is to choose your power and tariff.
If you want to know all the possibilities, you can check the catalogue of electricity tariffs or request free advice.

2. Documents needed to switch power companies
The process to switch power companies is very simple, and Endesa has made it even easier. You just need:
- Full name and ID of the person who will be the contract holder.
- Address of the house or premises to change the supply.
- IBAN code of the bank account to set up the direct debit for your bills.
- Phone and contact email.
If the installation is more than 20 years old, a review may be needed, even if nothing is changed, to thus update the CIE.

3. Documents for a new gas supply
If you are going to register a new gas installation, here are the documents you need to do so quickly and comfortably:
- CIG or Gas Installation Certificate: Don't be frightened by acronyms, it is simply a document provided by an authorised technician, who performs or reviews the installation and ensures that everything complies with safety regulations for gas supply.
For new properties, this document must be provided by the company in charge of the installation.
- CUPS is the Universal supply point code: It is a 20- or 22-digit alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies each home or business that receives gas (or electricity).
This code is provided to you by the energy distribution company in your area, simply by providing your name, ID and address of the property.
- Contract holder's details: The last documents you need for a new gas supply are simply the contract holder's details (ID, phone and email) and a bank account to set up payment of the bills.
4. Documents needed to switch gas companies
Switching natural gas companies is a simpler process.
Since the property already has a supply, it has a CUPS code, which you can consult on your last gas bill. And you only need the following documents:
- CIG (Gas Installation Certificate) in force: to ensure that the installation is completely safe to receive the gas supply.
- Address for the new supply.
- Personal data such as the name and surname of the contract holder, as well as the bank account where a direct debit for the bills will be set up.
With Endesa, switching companies is very simple and you don't have to worry about anything. We take care of all the arrangements.
