Endesa becomes the first company in Spain to obtain five AENOR compliance certifications
The company is strengthening its transversal compliance model, which spans the entire organisation and value chain, and consolidating its leadership by being recognised for the best compliance practices among listed companies
AENOR has progressively certified Endesa's different compliance systems since 2017, an integrated model covering criminal and anti-bribery, tax, competition, and whistleblower protection matters.
The company holds official UNE 19601, UNE-ISO 37001, UNE 19602 and UNE 19603 certifications, as well as ISO 37002, reinforcing the strength and maturity of its compliance model.
The compliance culture is underpinned by strong governance, continuous training and internal awareness, with more than 6,500 employees trained in 2025 and new transparency and disclosure initiatives on the corporate website and intranet.
Endesa has become the first national and international company to obtain five AENOR compliance certifications, a milestone that strengthens a compliance model designed from a cross-functional perspective, integrated into the company's governance and extended throughout its entire value chain. This progress reinforces Endesa's commitment to integrity, transparency and good governance, and recognizes the strength of a system that coordinately covers the main areas of corporate compliance.
Endesa's integrated compliance system has a comprehensive scope and applies to employees and executives, also extending throughout the entire value chain, as well as to relationships with suppliers, third parties and customers. Under this system, the company integrates criminal and anti-bribery compliance, tax compliance, competition compliance, and its internal whistleblower protection system into a single model, with prevention, control, monitoring and continuous improvement mechanisms. All of this is managed through different specialized committees that are coordinated with one another, reporting to the Audit and Compliance Committee and, through it, to the Board of Directors.
This certification also comes in a context of external recognition of Endesa's model. The company was recognized as the Listed Company with the Best Compliance Practices at the 7th Edition of the Compliance Awards organized by the financial newspaper Expansión, an endorsement that strengthens Endesa's position as a benchmark in this field within the IBEX 35.
Furthermore, according to the recent 2026 Report on Tax Transparency and Responsibility of IBEX Companies by Fundación Haz, Endesa is among the companies achieving the highest level of compliance, having met 100% of the indicators analyzed. The report also highlights its ability to go beyond the required standards by explaining taxation in a clear, useful and understandable way for all stakeholders, including information on litigation and audits.
Certifications and external recognition
Specifically, Endesa's compliance model benefits from extensive external support through official certifications. The company holds the UNE 19601, UNE-ISO 37001, UNE 19602, UNE 19603 and ISO 37002 certifications issued by AENOR. Endesa was also the first IBEX 35 company to simultaneously obtain the UNE 19601 and UNE-ISO 37001 certifications in 2017, and was a pioneer in 2024 by certifying its competition compliance management system in accordance with the UNE 19603 standard.
It is currently the only company nationally and internationally to hold the five compliance management systems certifications issued by AENOR.
The company's commitment to ethics, transparency and responsibility is also reflected in its position in external CSR, transparency and ESG rankings and assessments, including the Observatorio RSC, Fundación Haz, and the S&P, DJSI World and Europe, MSCI and FTSE indices and ratings.
The model is also supported by advanced management and monitoring tools, such as SAP GRC, TeamMate+ and PowerBI, which enable integrated process reviews, as well as the proactive identification and mitigation of risks. In highly regarded external reviews, Endesa's risk control system has been considered best-in-class.
Corporate culture and continuous training
Another distinctive feature of the model is its cultural dimension. During 2025, Endesa launched new initiatives to bring compliance closer to the entire organization, including the creation of a dedicated public section on its corporate website devoted to the compliance system, as well as a single space on the intranet containing policies, procedures, certifications and consultation channels. The company has also developed interactive explanatory videos, internal awareness campaigns and a survey aimed at employees to understand their perception of the system and continue making progress in its ongoing improvement.
Continuous training is one of the pillars of the model. By the end of 2025, more than 6,500 employees had received compliance training, while new hires are already provided with specific compliance content as part of their onboarding process. This training effort seeks to strengthen a corporate culture based on ethics, responsibility and prevention, and to ensure that compliance is part of the day-to-day activities of the entire organization.
External stakeholders
Endesa's commitment to compliance also extends to its supply chain. In 2025, 100% of relevant suppliers were assessed on ethics, human rights, environmental, occupational health and safety matters, and all of them are subject to the company's Code of Ethics and specific contractual commitments regarding integrity and anti-corruption. The system is further complemented by specialized consultation channels and an internal whistleblower protection system that allows irregular conduct to be reported securely and, where applicable, anonymously.
The model's reach also extends beyond the internal sphere. Endesa actively participates in specialized associations and forums such as ASCOM, IFCA, AEDAF, the Institute of Internal Auditors and various CEOE committees, as well as UNE-ISO standardization committees and initiatives such as United Nations Global Compact Network Spain, Forética and the Club de Excelencia en Sostenibilidad. This participation strengthens the exchange of best practices and the ongoing improvement of the system.
With AENOR certifications for its compliance management systems, Endesa takes another step toward consolidating a model distinguished by its scope, genuine integration into governance, external verification and alignment with the highest legal and ethical standards. A system that strengthens the trust of employees, customers, suppliers, investors and all its stakeholders.
