The main responsibilities of a solar panel installer
Mobile apps now give you all the tools and information you need to effectively manage and reduce their energy consumption at home. This helps you save money and lower your carbon footprint.
Nowadays, we use our smartphones to manage our entire life. Communicating with friends, family, and work colleagues, browsing the Internet, taking photos, watching and recording videos, and so on. If you already spend your life glued to your phone for both work and leisure, why not take advantage of this ‘tool’ to improve your efficiency?
Efficiency means achieving the best results with the fewest resources. When it comes to energy, efficiency means using all the light, heat, and appliances you need while generating the least possible expense, both in terms of kilowatt-hours and euros. At Endesa, we’ve selected several state-of-the-art apps that will enable you to take control of your daily electricity expenses:
RedOS
It's the official app of Red Eléctrica de España and one of the best-known for monitoring your home’s electricity system. You can check the hourly electricity prices, as well as spikes and drops depending on peak, shoulder, or off-peak times, using consumption graphs that display peak hours and real-time price fluctuations.
The app is available for both iOS and Android, and it features a very user-friendly interface. Users can adjust and personalise the dashboard and select the information or content they find most useful or access most frequently. It also allows users to schedule notifications about movements in retail electricity prices, such as when prices rise or fall. In addition, it provides detailed information on the percentage of renewable energy being generated and the CO₂ emissions associated with each type of energy.
Ahorra en luz
In the regulated market, electricity prices fluctuate daily, and these changes can be tracked using the free app Ahorra en luz (‘Save on electricity’), which is only available for Android.
The app shows the price per kWh in the regulated market, as well as hourly and daily variations. This information can help you plan when to use your most energy-hungry appliances, resulting in savings on your next electricity bill.
At any given hour, you’ll know whether the price is below or above the historical average for the regulated market, the average price of energy over the past 30 days, and whether the trend is rising or falling. But remember: all this makes sense only if you’re part of the regulated market. If you’re on a free-market electricity plan, these prices won’t affect your bill.
The main thing is to stay on top of how much energy you're using at any given time, since the price you pay for that energy depends on your contract.
Houseinhand KNX
Let's now talk about home automation and energy. Home automation can be a great ally when it comes to saving and being more energy-efficient, and the Houseinhand KNX app is an ideal tool to manage it. It allows you to control KNX devices (lights, blinds, climate control, etc.), audiovisual systems (TVs, audio devices, etc.), video intercoms, and cameras. All of this in real time, using your smartphone.
With this app, you can achieve efficiency through automation. Turn your heating or air conditioning on or off remotely, switch off lights you accidentally left on, or lower the blinds during peak sunlight hours in the summer. You can now keep your home under control – right from your pocket.
Lupbak
If you want to track electricity prices with an hourly VPSC (Voluntary Price to the Small Consumer) tariff and find out in real time when electricity is cheapest, the Lupbak app offers all that information. This intuitive and visually clear tool, available for Android, allows you to set up notifications about the cheapest hours. Additionally, it shows price ranges for the day – low, medium, and high – through colour-coded graphs that are easy to understand.
Lupbak proves that you don’t need complicated reports or complex calculations to understand your electricity expenses or plan your future consumption. Finally, its widget displays current and upcoming electricity prices (for the next two hours) right on your home screen – no need to even open the app. It’s as simple as checking the time on your phone.
Other apps to help monitor your electricity consumption
Here’s a quick overview of a few other apps that can help you control and monitor your electricity consumption, check time slots and energy prices, and learn more about your consumption habits as a user:
Energy Consumption Analyzer: this app allows you to track your energy consumption in real time. You can even connect it to smart devices or your electricity meter to obtain precise data on how much energy you’re using and at any time of day.
Light Bulb Saver: this app helps you calculate how much you could save by switching from conventional light bulbs to LEDs. It also shows how long it would take to recoup your initial investment in these energy-saving bulbs.
Wiser Air: this app connects to smart thermostats so you can schedule your heating and cooling systems. It optimises energy use based on your schedule and preferences to hep you save energy when you’re not at home.
Ecoisme: this app links to your home’s electrical panel. It provides suggestions to reduce your energy consumption and helps identify energy-hungry devices so you can manage them more efficiently.
Kill-Ur-Watts: a user-friendly app that allows you to set energy-saving goals. It also offers practical tips to help lower your daily energy consumption.
EnergyHub: this app can connect to various smart devices in your home (such as lights, thermostats, and appliances). It allows you to control and schedule them to run more efficiently.
How to track your electricity use with the Endesa App
It’s now common practice to pick up your phone to check how much electricity you used last Saturday, find out which month of the year your consumption peaked, or quickly see whether you’re being more or less efficient than last year – all at a glance, with no need for calculations or switching between multiple screens.
The Endesa Clientes App is free, fast, and easy to use, it's available both for Android and iOS, and lets you monitor your energy consumption straight from your smartphone..
