Price of Natural Gas at Endesa. Naturally attractive
Whether for cooking, hot water or heating, the low cost of Natural Gas per kWh and its high calorific value make it one of the energies which is most used in the home. We are going to explain some of the factors that influence its price.
Every day, more consumers are choosing Natural Gas as one of the best alternatives for cooking, having unlimited hot water on demand and, above all, for heating the house in winter at an unbeatable price.
In addition to being one of the cheapest options, it is considered a clean energy since, although it is not renewable, it emits a minimal amount of CO2 and its use contributes to improving the quality of the air we breathe.
Let’s go one step at a time.
1. How is the consumption of Natural Gas calculated?
Gas energy consumption is measured in m3 but kilowatt hours (kWh) are billed, and this is how you will find it on your bill.
This is an equivalence which is reached through the conversion factor of the higher calorific value (PCS). One cubic metre of natural gas is equivalent to approximately 11.70kWh.
"The higher calorific value of natural gas (PCS) is not always the same, it may present slight variations in each invoice".
2. And what is the final price for the consumer?
The tariff price of Natural Gas depends on two factors: the fixed term (also known as the access toll) and the variable term (your actual consumption).
The sum of both of these is the basis of the bill:
- Fixed term: it is the part you pay for having the supply enabled and it is always the same, regardless of whether or not any gas is consumed during that month.
Depending on your home’s annual consumption, a certain rate corresponds to you.
-
What is the most important thing to determine? Whether or not the heating is Natural Gas, because heating your house during the cold months takes up the lion's share in terms of consumption.
The most common access toll tariffs for domestic Natural Gas are:
- Tariff 3.1: for homes without natural gas heating with a consumption of less than 5,000 kWh per year = €4.95/month (taxes not included).
- Tariff 3.2: for homes with natural gas heating and a consumption of between 5,000 and 50,000 kWh per year = €8.75/month (taxes not included).
“Once a year, the distribution company will check if the access rate corresponds to real consumption. If not, it will proceed to change it."
- Variable term: it corresponds to your home’s consumption carried out in kWh and its price is determined by the tariff group to which your home belongs.
With the Endesa One Gas Rate, in 2020, prices before taxes are:
Tariff group |
Variable Term €/kWh |
3.1P | 0,0505 €/kWh |
3.2P | 0,042750 €/kWh |
And do these prices change every hour as the price of electricity changes?
Endesa Natural Gas prices are fixed for all hours of the day. Of course, depending on the Natural Gas wholesale market, they may be updated every 1 January with the actual value of the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) and due to changes in regulated components. Both upwards and downwards.
This type of change is regulated and applies equally to all companies throughout the country.
And, as with everything, to know what you pay in the end at these prices you have to add the corresponding taxes:
- Hydrocarbons Tax, which for natural gas is €0.00234/kWh
- And once this consumption tax has been added, it is time to apply VAT (21%) or the corresponding indirect tax in the Canary Islands (IGIC) or in Ceuta and Melilla (IPSI).
Either way, Endesa Natural Gas continues to be the favourite option for many homes due to its convenience in day-to-day use and the unmatched comfort provided by its heating in the coldest months of the year.
If you still do not have Endesa Natural Gas supplied to your home, we will inform you here about everything you need in order to register and start saving and enjoying all its advantages without limit.
