- This production is equivalent to the consumption of about four million households over a year.
Endesa's renewable division, Enel Green Power España, produced a total of 12,721 gigawatt/hours (GWh) of green energy in Spain in 2021, the equivalent of the consumption of about four million homes over a year or an annual energy consumption similar to the combined total of the households of Andalusia and Extremadura.
Specifically, solar energy saw the highest increase in production, rising 114% year-on-year from 497 GWh in 2020 to 1,067 GWh in 2021.
Endesa's renewable division, Enel Green Power España, has 148 hydroelectric power plants in Spain, 109 wind power facilities, one of which came into operation in November, one biomass plant and 31 solar plants, a dozen of which were commissioned in December 2021, adding further renewable capacity to Andalusia's grids.
This renewable capacity will increase in 2022, since Endesa, through its renewable subsidiary Enel Green Power España, is processing new renewable capacity in Spain. Endesa will continue to grow in the renewable sector with the goal of complete decarbonisation of its energy mix by 2040.
