- A total of 235 electrified vehicles have been delivered to Endesa, consisting of 101 Kia eNiro (electric), 39 Kia Niro (PHEV), 67 Kia Sportage PHEV (plug-in hybrids), 8 Niro HEV, and 20 Sportage HEV (hybrids).
- These units are part of the fleet renewal plan that Endesa is carrying out this year, almost 40% of the total, and it will enable the company to more than double the number of 100% electric vehicles by the end of 2024.
- The company has been optimizing and electrifying its fleet for over a decade. Its goal is to achieve full electrification of the fleet by 2030.
- Endesa's fleet currently emits 55% less CO2 than in 2009, the first full year in which a pioneering hybrid fleet of 400 vehicles was introduced. Since then, the electrified fleet has increased from representing 19% to the current 56%.
- Kia offers one of the most comprehensive electrified vehicle ranges in the market, with 17 variants present in the most demanded segments.
Kia has delivered 235 electrified vehicles to Endesa, a move that is part of the intense fleet renewal plan being carried out by Endesa during 2024, which will allow the company to end the year with double the number of electric vehicles and a 24% increase in plug-in hybrids. The delivered units, in leasing mode through Ayvens and Arval, include 101 Kia eNiro (electric), 67 Kia Sportage PHEV (plug-in hybrids), 39 Niro PHEV, 8 Niro HEV, and 20 Sportage HEV (hybrids). Kia's contribution has been the largest of the entire renewal this year, accounting for nearly 31% of the total.
Kia is supporting Endesa in the energy transformation of its corporate fleet, which by the end of the year will be 70% electrified. To do so, they have relied on Kia's full electrified range, one of the most comprehensive on the market, with 17 different variants in the most demanded segments by customers. Although Endesa's fleet optimization and electrification strategy began over a decade ago, 2024 marks a turning point as it will renew nearly 40% of the total vehicle fleet, which will allow the number of fully electric vehicles to double compared to the current number, reaching nearly 450 units. Including the hybrid range, by the end of this year, only about a third of the fleet will be combustion vehicles, with the goal of continuing to electrify the fleet with environmental and financial sustainability criteria in the coming years.
Kia's electrified vehicle range accounted for 66% of the brand's sales last year, with 38,768 units. Kia ranked second in plug-in hybrids with 5,990 units and a market share of 10.2%. In fully electric vehicles, with 2,584 units registered in 2023 and a 5.3% market share, it ranked fourth in the national ranking.
Eduardo Divar, CEO of KIA Spain, emphasized, “Kia has been developing environmentally friendly technologies for decades, and Endesa is doing an excellent job in the development of the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles and the generation of renewable energy. We have already collaborated with Endesa on the installation of chargers at our customers' homes, and we are excited to now help electrify their corporate fleet and continue working together towards sustainable mobility.”
For Pablo Samaura, Corporate Mobility Manager at Endesa, “This year we are taking a big step forward in the electrification of our fleet, which will go from 56% to 70%. We are renewing 40% of our fleet in just one year with more sustainable vehicles, and we continue working to find solutions that will help us achieve 100%, with those vehicles that are difficult to electrify because we still haven't found an equivalent electric vehicle or a product that can replace the pure off-road segment.”
