Endesa’s grids subsidiary, e-distribución, leads the connection of self-consumption with more than 438,500 individual and collective supply points, up 21% from a year ago.
Collective self-consumption installations have doubled over the last twelve months and account for one third of new requests.
Collective self-consumption connections to Endesa's distribution grid are accelerating. They have surpassed 45,000 after recording strong growth over the past year. In twelve months, the figure has doubled, rising from around 22,000 to more than 45,000 recorded at the end of May. This is a new record that demonstrates the progress of the energy transition.
Endesa’s grids subsidiary, e-distribución, has experienced exponential growth in the number of collective self-consumption connections to its grid in recent years. This has risen from a nominal figure of 48 supply points at the end of 2021 to more than 45,000, representing a more than 900-fold increase in connections. With the progress recorded over the last year, collective self-consumption now accounts for more than 10% of all self-consumption connections to Endesa's grid, compared to 6% a year ago.
All the areas where e-distribución manages the grid have experienced strong increases in connected self-consumption installations over the last twelve months. Catalonia leads in collective self-consumption with 18,215 supply points, up 59.1% from a year ago; meanwhile, Andalusia has exceeded 10,300 collective self-consumption installations following a 135.1% growth over the past twelve months. However, the highest percentage increases over the past year were in Aragon, where collective supply points multiplied by five, rising from 1,569 in May 2025 to 8,154 in May 2026. In the Canary Islands, the figure has doubled in a year, while in the Balearic Islands it has grown by 30%.
The milestone for collective self-consumption is part of the sustained growth in total self-consumption connected to Endesa's distribution grid, with a 21% increase over the last year.
e-distribución has already activated more than 438,500 self-consumption supply points, of which around 393,500 are individual and the remaining 45,000 are collective, with a total capacity of 4.74 GW. Of the more than 77,000 new self-consumption installations recorded in the last twelve months, 30% are collective.
These figures confirm e-distribución's leadership in activating self-consumption facilities on the Spanish electricity grid, thanks to its proactive management aimed at streamlining connection and accommodating a growing volume of installations.
Improvements in information and processing
The improvements introduced by e-distribución in processing self-consumption applications — both in validating the information provided by customers and in the status updates on the process provided to them — have contributed to expediting the activation of these grid connections in recent years.
Through a continuous improvement process, the e-distribución website has been enhanced with new features that simplify and streamline the management of requests. The platform offers comprehensive, up-to-date information on the different self-consumption models, the necessary procedures, and a frequently asked questions section that helps resolve queries right from the start.
Furthermore, through the private area, customers can track the real-time status of their self-consumption request and see exactly what stage the process is at.
The web forms feature a simplified layout to more easily identify the documentation required from customers, incorporating automated notifications that advise on the next steps to follow until the supply is activated.
As an additional measure, the e-distribución website includes a file validation tool (TXT file validator) that detects formatting errors in the documentation customers must provide during the self-consumption registration process — as required by the regulations governing collective self-consumption. This enables customers to detect potential errors in the documentation at the very start of the process, avoiding delays and the need to restart the application, thereby ensuring faster and more efficient processing.
It also includes a simulator that enables users to verify compliance with the statutory distance requirements for grid-connected self-consumption.
For further assistance, a dedicated helpline (900 920 974) is available to address self-consumption queries.
