How to know how much electricity your house consumes?
There are all kinds of inventions and formulas for finding out how much electricity your house is consuming at all times. But there is only one infallible method. Why waste time and money on gadgets and tricks when it is possible to know the exact figure?
Before we start calculating what you are really spending on electricity, there are two things you need to know:
1. You are not going to need to add, subtract or multiply. It will be easy and fast.
2. The electricity you consume accounts for approximately half of what you pay for on your bill. The rest is for the power contracted and different taxes. If you want more information, we recommend you read up on how to fully understand your electricity bill.
The electricity your home consumes
Everything that is plugged in ends up consuming electricity, even when it is turned off. In fact, you may be spending about 5 euros a month on devices in stand-by mode.
The electricity your house consumes is measured in kWh. This is a unit of measurement you should not confuse with the kW used to measure the power. kW refer to how much energy a domestic appliance needs at a specific time. kWh tell us is how many kW were needed over an entire hour.
The sum of all your light bulbs, all your domestic appliances (refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, etc.) and other things you plug in (mobile chargers, for example,) ends up resulting in a number of kWh.
kWh have a price. This price may be the same for all hours of the day and every day of the week. Or it may be higher/lower depending on the time and day. This depends on the rate you have contracted. In the Endesa catalogue you will find electricity rates that will adapt to your profile.

How to know how much you are really consuming
There are all kinds of more or less expensive gadgets that claim to measure the kWh you consume. There are also complex formulas for which you would need to have the instruction booklets of all your domestic appliances and a calculator to hand.

- Accumulated use: you will be able to see exactly how much electricity you have used every hour of every day.
- Peak hours/off-peak hours: you will be able to see at a glance how much you have spent during peak (less cheap) periods and off-peak (cheaper) periods.
Configuring it at your will means you can examine a specific day in detail to know what happened. At what time of day did your electricity expenditure go through the roof?
Don't give it any more thought. This is exact and reliable information, the information that matters to you. If you manage to control and moderate these figures, you will become increasingly efficient and pay less on your bills.
