This morning, Endesa was awarded the "Madrid Excellence" quality certificate by the Community of Madrid to certify the quality and excellence in management at companies and promote the competitiveness of the business sector. In short, companies that contribute to the progress of society as a whole.
The Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment, Javier Fernández-Lasquetty, was tasked with presenting the certificate to Endesa's Chief Executive Officer, José Bogas, at the company's headquarters in Madrid. Together, they also visited the company's energy control centre at its headquarters in Madrid, which constitutes the nerve centre from which the transportation, transformation and distribution of electricity is controlled. Here, they work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to improve and maintain the proper operation of the electricity grid.
"It gives the regional government great satisfaction to award more and more companies this certificate of excellence, as they find creative and innovative solutions to achieve the required level of excellence. We will continue to commit to collaboration instruments with companies and recognise the excellence and quality of our organisations, all while removing the obstacles that hinder the development of their activity," asserted Fernández-Lasquetty.
In the words of José Bogas, Endesa's Chief Executive Officer, "receiving this recognition from the Community of Madrid is an honour and a confirmation that we are making good progress in our commitment to a new energy model based on clean energies, allowing us to offer a better service and take care of our planet. Integrating sustainability into everything we do is one of our priorities to create value for society, help in the fight against climate change, and drive inclusion, diversity, ethics and transparency".
In addition to the Madrid Excellence certificate, Fernández-Lasquetty handed over a commemorative tessera. This sculpture evokes the Roman tradition, as part of which tesseras symbolised a pact of hospitality between peoples. This gift confirms Madrid Excellence's implicit intention to assist Endesa in its process of continuous improvement.
Distinction
The quality certificate awarded by the Community of Madrid acknowledges the excellence in management of organisations and institutions that are committed to quality, innovation, social responsibility and customers. Currently, 200 Madrid-based companies have received this certification.
Placing a priority on people, Endesa has 9,260 employees and focuses its efforts on providing its 10 million customers with a better service and structures its business strategy around a commitment to local communities and a contribution to the United Nations SDGs. Furthermore, it integrates sustainability into all aspects of the company with a view to creating value for society, help in the fight against climate change, and drive inclusion, diversity, ethics and transparency.
This accreditation is only awarded after several assessment phases are passed, including an external assessment, a quality committee and final approval from the Governing Board. To this end, the Cámara Certifica auditor tasked with the independent assessment highlighted the participation of companies of the stature of Endesa in this process, which share the same values and a purpose involving issues like excellence, corporate responsibility or consumer trust, contributing to the progress of society as a whole.
In line with other models of international excellence, the "Madrid Excellence" brand values the principles of leadership, processes, people, innovation, customers, partnerships, social responsibility and results, in line with three modules: Excellence, Social Responsibility and Customer and Consumer Trust.
