- The solar installation undertaken by Endesa X consists of 2,570 panels with an installed capacity of 976 kWp and an annual energy production of approximately 1,214 MWh, which will enable an annual saving of 932 tons of CO2
- Together with other energy efficiency initiatives, solar energy is a viable means for companies to address the decarbonisation of the economy.
- The construction of this plant was awarded to Endesa X within the framework of a tender called by the Government of the Balearic Islands
Endesa X, Endesa's energy services subsidiary, was contracted by the Government of the Balearic Islands to build a self-consumption photovoltaic plant at Mateu Orfila Hospital, the largest health centre on the island of Menorca. The solar installation will represent a 20% saving on the centre's energy requirements.
The Vice President and Minister of Energy Transition and Productive Sectors of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Juan Pedro Yllanes and the General Manager of Endesa in the Balearic Islands, Martí Ribas, inaugurated a new self-consumption photovoltaic installation which was by Endesa X after being awarded the contract in a tender process called by the Government of the Balearic Islands.
The installation built by Endesa X consists of 2,750 photovoltaic modules in the pergolas of the Mateu Orfila Hospital car park, which occupy a surface area of 15,000 m2, to meet the requirements and needs of the Government of the Balearic Islands. There is an installed capacity of 976 kWp and the plant will produce approximately 1,214 MWh per year, which will enable an economic saving of €160,000 per year and a reduction of 932 tons of CO₂ emissions per year.
For the General Manager of Endesa X, Davide Ciciliato, "Endesa X would like to be the energy partner of cities in order to help them meet their decarbonisation objectives. We place all the knowledge we have with regard to the world of energy at their disposal in order to achieve cleaner cities that save as much energy as possible. The Mateu Orfila Hospital is an example of this."
Endesa's Territorial General Manager for the Balearic Islands, Martí Ribas, pointed out that "this installation is another example of our commitment and willingness to work together with administrations, citizens and companies in the Islands to make the energy transition process a reality. We need to accelerate together to meet our decarbonisation commitments."
Solar energy, together with other energy efficiency initiatives, is one of the key points for addressing decarbonisation in the industrial sector and Endesa X aims to make this possible and adapt to the needs of our customers by implementing projects that take advantage of natural resources, such as this one for photovoltaic self-consumption.
This commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency ensures that the Hospital Mateu Orfila can make a qualitative leap forward with Endesa X and join the energy revolution, moving towards a model that is more respectful of the environment."
