- The Colorobbia Group, with more than 100 years of history, specialises in the production and distribution of raw materials and semi-finished products for the ceramic and glass industry.
- The installation will have a total power of 2.2 MWp and will be installed on a flat roof at the Vilafamés logistics centre, in the province of Castellón, covering an area of more than 15,500 m2.
- This project will prevent the emission of 734 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year, equivalent to the absorption capacity of 40,370 trees per year.
The Colorobbia Group, a world leader in the Italian tradition of ceramics and specialising in the production of raw materials and semi-finished products for the ceramic, glass and other sectors, has entrusted Endesa X for its initiation in self-consumption at the company's logistics centre in Spain. Endesa X, Endesa's energy services subsidiary, will build a solar plant with a total capacity of 2.2 MWp at the company's installations in Vilafamés, in the province of Castellón, which has been operating for 34 years and is now one of the largest factories in the world in its sector.
The solar photovoltaic plant designed by Endesa X will have 3,367 photovoltaic modules that will be installed on the building's flat roof with a surface area of 15,500 m2. This large plant will reduce its carbon footprint by 734 tons of CO2 per year, equivalent to the absorption capacity of 40,370 trees/year.
Construction of the renewable installation is expected to begin at the beginning of the year and once it is commissioned it will produce about 3 MWh/year entirely for self-consumption in the centre, which will enable them to cover 10% of their energy electricity needs.
According to Juan Carlos Navarro Mateo, B2B Manager of Endesa X in Levante, "Endesa X believes that the way to make companies like Colorobbia more competitive and ensure their long-term environmental and economic sustainability is to take actions aimed at decarbonising their production processes. Photovoltaic self-consumption is part of our Net-Zero emissions plan, which seeks to make companies carbon neutral through energy saving and efficiency measures, by decarbonising all energy demand with electrification as the main lever, making origin of all energy consumed 100% green and adopting compensation strategies for demand that cannot be decarbonised. With this project, Colorobbia will reduce its energy dependence, ensuring 100% emission-free consumption for all the electricity generated by the plant and this will also benefit the economy as a whole."
For Gonzalo Trilles de Castro, Manager of Colorobbia Spain, "since the outset, the multinational has opted to use the best available techniques to favour the preservation of the environment. In fact, for many years our highly qualified team has been responsible for developing environmentally friendly projects, since they were already pioneers in sustainability in the 1970s and this can be seen in some of our patents. The fact that we have been able to reduce our carbon footprint using renewable energies is a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to the planet and to society. It is also a goal in our path in the fight against climate change, an essential part of our Founder's philosophy of preserving the environment for future generations".
Smart monitoring
The self-consumption project undertaken for Colorobbia also includes Endesa X's Energy Management Service (EMS), which will enable it to monitor the energy produced by the photovoltaic installations, the energy self-consumed and the savings produced in a simple way once they are in operation. This service also lets users view their real-time consumption, detect anomalies, cost overruns or deviations, study their causes and, with this information, design the necessary measures to resolve them, which translates into direct savings. The EMS does not only provide the client with data and who then has to interpret it, it also makes an analysis that enables informed decisions to be taken.
Endesa X also offers companies comprehensive assessment throughout the process for managing existing support for self-consumption installations, which result in a significant reduction of the panel installation costs, making the return on the investment even more attractive. Endesa X manages these grants for its customers, as well as providing them with the advice they need to choose the best photovoltaic installation option.
