Endesa will once again be present this year at the 30th edition of the congress organized annually by the Association of Urban and Metropolitan Transport (ATUC), which will be held in Málaga on September 26 and 27 under this year's theme, “Artificial Intelligence in Motion.” This event has become a key reference in the field of sustainable mobility and the public transport sector, expecting over 250 attendees, including associated companies, transport authorities, industry companies, and representatives from local, regional, and national administrations.
Endesa will showcase to all attendees its proposal for electrifying urban transport: a comprehensive plan tailored to each city, managed through a single provider, and fully customized to meet and enhance customer needs. This is a complete service designed to support customers from the project's initial planning phase to the full electrification of their depots, minimizing technological risks and allowing operators to be more efficient and optimize operations. The solution integrates everything from the supply of 100% renewable energy to the provision, installation, and maintenance of charging infrastructures throughout their lifespan. It includes innovative smart charging systems that ensure the best solution for each transport line while maximizing customer savings. These systems also optimize the charging process to ensure that electric buses operate entirely on renewable energy.
Currently, urban areas represent only 2% of the Earth's surface, but they house half of the world's population, consume 70% of global energy production, and account for 75% of total greenhouse gas emissions. Their role is therefore crucial in the fight against climate change, making transport electrification a key factor. Cities like Barcelona, Zaragoza, Madrid, Málaga, Seville, and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are already taking necessary steps in infrastructure and digitization to see eBuses operating on their streets, with Endesa.com as a partner supporting them in transforming their depots. Endesa currently serves more than 660 electric buses in Spain with over 440 charging points awarded across various projects nationwide, collaborating with 15 municipalities. These figures demonstrate both customer confidence and Endesa’s firm commitment to electrifying urban and intercity bus fleets in Spain.
“We want to be the energy partner of local authorities, allowing municipalities to focus on their own objectives—devoting all their time and efforts to improving residents’ quality of life. Our mission is to help cities and public transport operators meet their decarbonization and sustainability goals by electrifying their fleets with eBuses, bringing all our experience and expertise,” stated Davide Ciciliato, General Director of Endesa’s Commercial Division.
