Endesa and Cívitas, one of the country’s leading real estate developers, have reached a strategic agreement whereby the energy company becomes Cívitas’ energy partner. Through this alliance, Endesa, as an integrated provider of energy solutions, services, and equipment to support electrification and energy efficiency, will provide innovative and sustainable solutions for the developer’s urban projects. This way, it ensures access to an efficient energy supply adapted to new consumption models. The goal is to make it easier for customers to manage the contracting of energy supplies and energy-efficient products for their new homes.
‘This agreement reaffirms our commitment to responsible urban planning, ensuring that our developments are equipped with the best energy solutions from the design stage. At Cívitas, we want to shape the future of housing; therefore, partnering with Endesa adds significant value both for our clients and for the sustainability of our projects,’ said Alejandro Ayala, chairman of Grupo Cívitas.
José Bogas, CEO of Endesa, emphasised that ‘this initiative strengthens our commitment to the energy transition and allows us to integrate our electric mobility, self-consumption, and digitalisation solutions into new urban developments. We are confident that this is the way to build more efficient and sustainable cities.’
Campus Cívitas: the first project under the Endesa-Cívitas agreement
The first major development under the agreement between Endesa and Cívitas will be Campus Cívitas, an ambitious 2,700-home residential project in Badajoz, designed to be the town’s first smart city. This new neighbourhood will not only be a milestone in real estate development in the region but will also serve as a model for future projects across the country.
Through this collaboration, Endesa will contribute its expertise in sustainable and intelligent energy solutions, ensuring that Campus Cívitas becomes a benchmark in efficiency, innovation, and respect for the environment. Key features of the project include:
- Photovoltaic self-consumption: Installation of solar power generation systems to maximise the use of renewable energy and reduce reliance on conventional sources.
- Electric mobility: Deployment of a network of electric vehicle charging points (EV chargers) at strategic locations within the development, facilitating the transition to more sustainable mobility.
- Smart lighting: Development of an energy-efficient public lighting system, with LED technology and regulation sensors to optimise energy consumption and reduce light pollution.
- Connected and efficient homes: Integration of energy efficiency solutions into the homes, including smart thermostats, consumption monitoring, and optimised climate control systems.
- Advanced digital infrastructure: Integration of technologies that improve energy resource management and connectivity throughout the development.
‘Campus Cívitas is not just a new neighbourhood in Badajoz; it’s a real example of how innovation and energy can transform the way we design and live in our cities,’ said José Bogas, CEO of Endesa.
This development reaffirms Cívitas’ commitment to sustainability and efficiency by setting a standard that will be replicated in the company's future developments in various locations.
With Endesa as its energy partner, Campus Cívitas positions itself as a leader in smart urban planning, in line with the energy transition and decarbonisation goals that are shaping the future of the sector.
In addition to Campus Cívitas, the collaboration will extend to other Cívitas projects, such as the new homes on Avenida de Elvas, and will be replicated in future developments across the country.
This agreement represents a significant step forward for Endesa and Cívitas in their efforts to integrate the energy transition into the real estate sector and promote a more efficient, digitalised housing model in line with sustainability challenges.
