- An agreement was signed at Coren's headquarters in Ourense by Manuel Gómez-Franqueira, chairman of the cooperative, and Juan José Muñoz, Endesa's B2B Customer Director
Endesa and Coren have signed a five-year electricity supply contract that gives stability to the Galician company to meet its long-term energy requirements and opens the way to jointly exploring the development of projects in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energies in its farms and industries. The agreement was signed at Coren's headquarters in Ourense by the chairman of the Galician cooperative, Manuel GómezFranqueira, and Endesa's Director of B2B Customers, Juan José Muñoz. It is for 90 GWh and will enable Coren to have a horizon of price stability to undertake its activity.
The chairman of Coren, Manuel Gómez-Franqueira, highlighted the significance of this agreement for the cooperative in the current price context and with the aim of further improving the efficiency of processes in its agri-food plants, with the help of Endesa's experience. "For Coren it is very important to have an energy partner that provides security and peace of mind so we are able to develop our strategy based on sustainable development, even in the face of great market volatility that is expected at least in the medium term. It also helps us in the context of the rising costs we face in our sector, since the rise in the price of energy goes together with that of animal feed and raw materials, he said.
Juan José Muñoz, Endesa's Director of B2B Clients, pointed out that "the agreement enables Coren to overcome the current complex scenario affecting energy markets and to have stable, competitive costs that will enable the company to secure its business plans for the future. Endesa has strong roots in Galicia which means that it is committed to supporting the primary sector in Galicia, within the common framework of both companies' commitment to sustainability".
