Travel without contaminating
Mérida is one of those cities with a charm and beauty that nobody forgets. Its two thousand-year-old Roman bridge was a testament to the start of stage 6 of this #eVuelta.
The journey
Today will take us from Mérida to Cáceres crossing the Extremadura countryside. Samantha arrived before 11h to meet local authorities including the mayor of Mérida and to meet the pilot for this stage.
On this occasion Endesa employee Javier accompanied Samantha on her route. At the end of the journey we arrived at Cáceres Town Hall Square where Endesa managers and the mayoress were waiting for us. Many local and national media outlets also came to cover the event.
A few points of interest
We made good use of the proximity to the European fig capital of Almoharín to taste local products. We visited a company that exports this delicacy to 50 countries and mixes the fig tradition with pastry innovation: figs filled and covered with chocolate. It could look like the fig being an excuse to eat chocolate but what is true is that it gives it a unique taste.
Samantha challenged Javier to prepare a fig filled with chocolate and Javier, a self-confessed admirer of MasterChef, scored full marks.

Get to know the cars from the stage
The 2nd Tour of Spain in Electric Vehicle uses two kinds of efficient vehicle currently on the market:
The Kia Soul EV, with zero emissions, electric autonomy of up to 250 km and innovative technology that enables recovering up to 12% of kinetic energy; the battery recharges when braking and in retention.
On our journey, we also used the Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid (Niro PHEV) that combines major versatility with very low fuel consumption and emissions. Therefore, it has the ZERO label and can drive free of restrictions during the high contamination episodes in major cities. It enjoys bonuses when parked in regulated areas. The 100% electric version of this model comes out on the market soon.
Taking part
This time Mario won the electric scooter in Cáceres searching for the SOUL car by following the clues on social networks. Congrats Mario!
