A total of 441 original songs by 441 emerging soloists and bands has made this debut edition of Endesa Play a huge success in terms of participation. This emerging talent contest – the first to combine music with the Liga Endesa in collaboration with the ACB – will add an extra layer of excitement to the final stage of the competition, allowing fans and teams to support artists or bands from their own city in a contest designed to celebrate the artists who represent the future of Spanish music.
By autonomous communities, Madrid, Catalonia, Valencia, and Andalusia submitted the most entries, with 205, 76, 42, and 38 artists respectively. In terms of musical style, rock and pop each account for a third of the submissions. Indie music accounts for 18 percent, while the rest is split between singer-songwriters, urban/trap, electronic, roots music, rap, and reggaeton. As stated in the official rules, all songs must be original, free of autotune, and submitted by solo artists or bands who are just starting out in the music world.
The competition is now entering its decisive stages. A professional jury will review each entry and announce the 18 selected songs on 25 April, marking the start of the public voting phase, which will remain open until 20 May. Fans of music and basketball alike will be able to listen to, watch, and vote for their favourite artistic entry on the project’s official website. The week of 4–11 May will be crucial, as this is when the artists will perform their original songs live at the home arena of the Liga Endesa team they’ve been matched with.
Now, this talent competition is moving into its final stages. A professional jury will review each entry and announce on April 25th the 18 songs that will be submitted to the popular vote, which will be open from that same day until May 20th. All music and basketball fans will be able to listen to, watch, and vote for each of the artistic submissions on the project's website, choosing their favorite. The week of May 4th to 11th will be crucial, as this is when the artists will present their original song in the arena of the Liga Endesa team they have partnered with.
This is sure to be a special moment in which fans, teams, and musicians will give their all to see their song make it to the spectacular final gala. The three most-voted solo artists or bands will perform in front of the professional jury during this event, which will be broadcast live on Instagram and Twitch. The jury will decide the winners of the three major prizes: first, performing on the Bosque Stage at Madrid’s Jardín de las Delicias Festival, which will held on 19 and 20 September; second, performing during the 2024–2025 Liga Endesa Playoff final; and third, a feature in the renowned music magazine Mondo Sonoro.
