Great names from Spanish basketball have all put their hands together to applaud workers on the front line in the fight against COVID-19 and thank everyone staying home for complying with the confinement measures.
Well-known faces such as Pau Gasol, Ricky Rubio, Sergio Llull, Laia Palau, Marta Xargay and Alba Torrens showed their appreciation for the hard work of healthcare professionals, cashiers, communicators, transporters and so many other workers who are striving tirelessly to serve the people of Spain.
A host of other representatives from the national teams, the Endesa League and the Endesa Women's League joined in: Fernando San Emeterio, Álex Mumbrú, Víctor Claver, Alberto Díaz, Pablo Laso, Silvia Domínguez, Pierre Oriola, Lucas Mondelo, Anna Cruz, Queralt Casas, Guillem Vives, Darío Brizuela, Laura Gil and Javier Beirán have also taken part in this project.
With a message that appeals to the values of basketball, this sporting community wished to emphasise that teamwork is crucial to win this game, concluding with a show of solidarity that is resonating everywhere these days: applause.
Endesa,the basketball company in Spain, launched this initiative with support from the Association of Basketball Clubs (ACB) and the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), calling on familiar faces from the team sport scene to say a loud thank you to the true heroes of the moment and inject some energy during this difficult time for society.
