- Magic, cocktails, hypnosis, music and... even heroes! All to present season 2022-23 of the acb competitions that start this weekend with the matches for the Supercopa Endesa. The players were the stars of an event that featured a well-deserved tribute to the EuroBasket Champions, and where everything was included
Endesa, main sponsor of the basketball Supercopa, wants fans of this sport to live a unique experience cheering on their teams or enjoying the show offered by the competition's semi-final and final.
Season 2022-23 has started! The acb competitions, Liga Endesa, Supercopa Endesa and Copa del Rey, have started their engines this Thursday with the celebration of a fast-paced presentation party at Endesa's head office in Madrid.
Its central atrium has housed the stage where the real protagonists, the players of the acb clubs, stood and had a great time as part of an endless number of increasingly more interesting performances.
With Sara Escudero and Lucio Angulo as hosts, the first to appear before the public were Dzanan Musa (Real Madrid), Alex Abrines (Barça), Joel Parra (Joventut Badalona) and Shannon Evans (Coosur Real Betis), representatives of the four competitors for the Supercopa Endesa, the season's first official tournament, to take place this coming weekend in Seville. Just like Marvel heroes, they have shown their strength as if they were facing Thor himself.
A more serious moment followed: the institutional messages, with José Manuel Franco, Secretary of State for Sport, the first to take the floor to state that the upcoming season "can only be euphoria and success. We have a magnificent organisation. The acb shows great work every day, with a base that represents the federation and all the clubs, forming a big family. Also, we have a sponsor like Endesa. I always say that public-private collaboration is essential for sport. We have all the ingredients to make this a great year, starting with the Supercopa Endesa and then with Liga Endesa. Enjoy!"
After the presentation of a video about the "Liga Endesa de Corazón" campaign (the social project promoted by Endesa and acb to support charity projects born from the basketball fan community itself), it was the turn of José Bogas, CEO of Endesa, who said that "sponsorship with a purpose is about going farther. That is why the Liga Endesa de Corazón initiative wants to bring us closer to society, to collaborate with it through social, environmental and integration actions... It is not just about supporting the values of basketball but also about giving back to basketball everything it has given to Endesa."
Finally, like José Manuel Franco and José Bogas, the chairman of the acb, Antonio Martín mentioned the success achieved by Spain in a summer to remember: "We have really enjoyed the Federation's summer. It has been historic, joy after joy."
Jorge Garbajosa was invited by the three directors to take the stage. The chairman of the FEB gratefully called the summer "unforgettable", and stated that it is the "fruit of the efforts of many". This has not been something spontaneous, it has not come out of nowhere. There is only one Spanish basketball, and the stars are there because of the work we do together", and he mentioned "a huge travel companion like Endesa".
Then it was time for entertainment, this time by the hand of the magician Samuel Pons who dazzled with his tricks, followed very closely by Sadiel Rojas (UCAM Murcia), Dani Díez (Cazoo Baskonia) and Francis Alonso (Surne Bilbao Basket).
Quino Colom, from Bàsquet Girona, Dejan Todorovic, from Coviran Granada, Leo Westermann, from Monbus Obradoiro, and Martin Herrmansson, from Valencia Basket, had the opportunity to taste several alcohol-free cocktails, made by two great experts in the field. Meanwhile, Juampi Vaulet (BAXI Manresa) and Santi Yusta (Casademont Zaragoza) and Christian Eyenga (Carplus Fuenlabrada) joined a hypnosis session, with the participation of the presenter of Colgados del Aro By Endesa, Siro López.
There was also an interview with two acb referees, Antonio Conde and Martín Caballero; the opportunity to experience the virtual world offered by Distrito acb was mentioned; and one of the great novelties for this season was presented.
The song "Tres", which is sure to become great anthem for basketball fans.
With the mascots of all the teams on stage, a magical afternoon, full of surprises, came to an end. Now, let's toss the ball.
Sevilla and the Supercopa Endesa await us!
