- The initiative consists of holding informative sessions with vulnerable individuals who may be eligible for the social discounted rate in Seville and Hospitalet de Llobregat, starting today and ending on 21st March.
- Through tailored support, participants will receive guidance and, when necessary, hands-on assistance in managing the application process and securing access to the social discounted rate.
- In 2024, the programme provided guidance to more than 1,200 people in Huelva, Granada, Palma de Mallorca, and Zaragoza. Of those, approximately 470 met the eligibility criteria for the social discounted rate, while 174 successfully obtained it with the direct support provided by the programme.
Today, in collaboration with the Red Cross, Endesa officially launched the second year of the ‘Cita Bono Social’ initiative in Seville and Hospitalet de Llobregat. In 2024, the programme assisted 1,200 people in Huelva, Granada, Palma de Mallorca, and Zaragoza. Of those, around 470 individuals were deemed eligible for the social discounted rate, while 174 ultimately accessed it through the tailored support offered as part of the initiative.
The objective of Cita Bono Social is to inform, assist, and accompany individuals and families who may meet the requirements to apply for the social discounted rate. To that end, up until 21st March, information points will be available in both cities, where Red Cross technical staff and volunteers who have previously been trained by Endesa’s customer service teams will provide assistance.
They will offer guidance on the eligibility criteria and application requirements for the social discounted rate. The Red Cross team will also assess whether the participants qualify for this benefit based on their energy bills and personal circumstances.
To measure the effectiveness of this initiative, participants will be asked to consent to follow-up evaluations after receiving support. In addition to tailored guidance, each participant will receive an energy efficiency kit.
During these sessions, specific cases will also be identified that may require additional assistance in gathering the necessary documentation. This includes individuals with mobility issues, communication difficulties, or complex personal situations. In such cases, Red Cross volunteers will provide in-person support, accompanying participants to commercial offices of energy companies or relevant public administration offices with the aim of ensuring that their applications for the social discounted rate are submitted successfully.
Thus, this initiative is part of one of the key objectives outlined in Endesa’s strategic sustainability plan, which seeks to promote access to energy for individuals in vulnerable situations. One of the main focus areas is developing initiatives to inform, educate, and assist vulnerable groups in applying for the social rate, as it is one of the measures with the greatest impact in reducing energy bills. Despite its benefits, awareness of the social discounted rate among the Spanish population remains low, and the application process can be complex for certain groups.
