- The eight best teams in the LF Endesa, Valencia Basket, Perfumerías Avenida, Casademont Zaragoza, Spar Girona, Movistar Estudiantes, IDK Euskotren, Lointek Guernika and Baxi Ferrol are meeting from today until Sunday the 24th at the Palacio de los Deportes Carolina Marín in Huelva to play the Copa de la Reina with the highest intensity ever.
- Marlena, the popular female duo, will sing the recently released LF Endesa anthem, "Allá donde voy".
- The Minicopa LF Endesa, the tournament that is getting bigger and bigger thanks to a lot of work and enthusiasm, also starts today with 16 teams from the youth categories in the Endesa Women's League competing to win a competition that has already enjoyed the presence of consolidated stars such as Claudia Langarita, Deva Bermejo and Awa Fam.
Women's basketball and music, present and future go hand in hand from today until Sunday, 24 March in Huelva with the Endesa Women's League Copa de la Reina which will once again be a meeting point full of emotion and unique experiences for everyone, with 90 female players coming together in this Andalusian city to compete for a trophy that is more important year by year. The stands at the Carolina Marín stadium will be flooded with the chants and colours of the eight groups of supporters who will accompany their teams hoping to win the cup: Valencia Basket, Perfumerías Avenida, Casademont Zaragoza, Spar Girona, IDK Euskotren, Lointek Gernika, Movistar Estudiantes and BAXI Ferrol.
This Cup also arrives on a strong footing with innovative features to raise the level of entertainment it offers to make it like no other women's competition. As well as not knowing who will emerge as the winning team, the final on the 24th provides another genuine spectacle: The live premiere of the LF Endesa anthem, "Allá donde voy", by the duo Marlena. The band members, Ana and Carol, explained how "writing this song made us reflect on the strong relationship between the players' careers and our own, as well as that of music in general: daily hard work, consistency, ambition, a positive attitude and above all, the essentials of good teamwork and getting on well together."
The project to create an anthem for the Endesa Women's League started a little less than a year ago, as a result of the desire of the energy company and the Spanish Basketball Federation to bring new fans and attractions to a competition that is continually growing. For Ignacio Asensi, Endesa's head of sponsorships, Sunday's performance "will be a demonstration of how sport and music share emotion as a common language, capable of transmitting to young people the values of companionship, effort and aspiration that are typical of basketball with unparalleled strength."
The LF Endesa Minicopa, getting bigger and bigger
As we have been seeing since 2017, the LF Endesa Minicopa will be held alongside the LF Endesa Copa de la Reina. With teams from the lower categories belonging to the teams that have qualified for the Cup and other renowned youth academies in Spain up to a total of 16 squads, the competition is becoming more significant year by year. For Elisa Aguilar, President of the Spanish Basketball Federation, it is all about the tournament. "The growth of the Endesa Women's League Copa de la Reina is undeniable, a magnificent sporting and economic event which is really relevant and also has an impact on training. This is why in recent years the FEB has opted to make the tournament compatible with that of the Minicopa LF Endesa, in which the 16 teams of the League also compete for the title in the youth category. A celebration of sport and values that will leave a legacy among those who are developing through basketball."
Endesa's head of sponsorships, Ignacio Asensi, pointed out that the essence of the Minicopa LF Endesa, which the energy company has been supporting since 2020, "goes beyond winning or losing, it is a life-changing experience full of camaraderie that we are sure all these girls will remember for many years to come. We are convinced that their time in this competition will help them continue their path in basketball."
All those looking to see a good sample of our young basketball talent will be able to do so completely freely and free of charge. From 21 March, the Minicopa LF Endesa will be played in four venues, the Andrés Estrada, Diego Lobato, Nuevo Frontón and Plus Ultra pavilions and will end with a grand final which will be held at the official Cup venue, the Palacio de los Deportes Carolina Marín, on Saturday at 6pm.
