450 women improve their employment prospects through Impulsa Mujeres, a programme established by Endesa and the máshumano Foundation

  • Impulsa Mujeres is a training programme organised by Endesa and the Máshumano Foundation to help unemployed women with family responsibilities to join the employment market.
  • According to a survey conducted just two months after the end of the programme, 35% of the women said that they have found work. Furthermore, 93% stated that they have taken part in selection processes or job interviews. 98% think that this course has been very useful in improving their self esteem.
  • Eight months later, the figures show an increase in the number of women to find work to 55%.
  • Impulsa Mujeres is part of the Public Responsibility Plan launched by Endesa to tackle COVID-19, an initiative with which the company has expressed its support for more than 153 projects which, in partnership with public institutions and third sector organisations such as the máshumano Foundation, are helping to mitigate the socioeconomic consequences of the pandemic.

The Impulsa Mujeres programme, developed by Endesa and the Máshumano Foundation to train 450 unemployed women, has ended its training sessions having achieved a high level of satisfaction and employability. 100% of the participants would recommend the programme to other people. Moreover, a survey of participants in the programme conducted two months after they had completed it showed that 35% of those asked have found work and 93% say that they have taken part in selection processes or job interviews. Furthermore, 98% think that this course has been very useful in improving their self esteem.

These figures have continued to grow, with the survey showing that 55% have found work eight months after completing the programme.

This initiative, part of Endesa's Public Responsibility Plan to tackle COVID-19, was launched in December 2020 with the aim of supporting measures to assist the inclusion of unemployed women with dependant children or other family responsibilities in the employment market. This is a group that has been particularly affected by the pandemic caused by COVID-19.

Development of the programme

Through free 25-hour training sessions carried out in Madrid, Andalusia, Extremadura, Catalonia, Aragón, Galicia, the Canary Isles and the Balearics, 450 women have had access to various tools to improve their employment prospects and achieve greater security, growth and professional development. Work has also been done on the development of different skills, both personal and social, or focused specifically on employability and the active search for employment.

The aspects most appreciated by participants were the training offered to improve their self-esteem, recognise and manage emotions, increase self-motivation and improve their personal brand. Furthermore, in 98% of cases the course was very helpful in improving self-esteem, security and self-confidence.

This is exemplified by cases such as that of Mimi, a 36-year-old woman from the Canary Isles, who says that she is "delighted with the programme. You cannot imagine how helpful it has been, in particular at the personal level. It has really boosted my motivation and thanks to the advice given in the training, I now simply want to learn. I have completely changed my CV, but I still want to continue improving it every day. So I have a lot of work ahead. Thank you so much for this opportunity".

Another testimonial is provided by Belén, a 52-year-old woman from Madrid who was unemployed when she joined the programme. "After a long selection process I have secured a job with a permanent contract. I'm very happy! For me the Impulsa Mujeres programme was the starting point I needed to have confidence in myself. I am sure that I have got this job thanks to what I learned on the programme and the positive energy that you convey. At the age of 52, after being unemployed for some time, I felt very insecure when it came to looking for work and you gave me the boost and security that I needed".

The group format of the programme, facilitating active participation and collaborative learning, made it possible to create a community in each of the regions where it was carried out, enabling the participants to improve and extend their network of contacts, another aspect which was greatly appreciated.

According to María Malaxecheverría, general manager of sustainability at Endesa, "this initiative is a further illustration of the company's commitment to not leaving anyone behind". We are sensitive to the needs of our environment and direct our activity to respond to the major, environmental and ethical challenges that society faces. In this context, we had no other choice than to respond to the unprecedented crisis caused by the pandemic and, among the activities carried out, to focus in particular on the groups that start from a more difficult context. We are especially happy to support the social inclusion of women and to foster the full integration of diversity in general and gender equality in particular".

For her part, Beatriz Sánchez Guitián, general manager of the Máshumano Foundation, stated that "thanks to Endesa's support, the aim of this programme has been to contribute to the generation of greater equality of opportunity in employment, helping women to improve their position in the employment market through their personal transformation, enhancing their skills, fostering their independence and providing them with the necessary resources and tools".

The Impulsa Mujeres programme is part of the initiatives carried out under the Endesa Public Responsibility plan to tackle COVID-19. This initiative has mobilised 25 million euros since March 2020 in projects distributed almost equally between medical-health assistance in an initial phase until June 2020; and support for SMEs, unemployed people and families and groups in a vulnerable situation to foster socioeconomic reactivation in the second phase. This plan is in its final months and has so far supported more than 153 projects.
