Since it was established, the Platform spearheaded by Endesa and made up of ten large companies has exceeded its target for 2015 by 20%.
“Companies for energy efficiency”, the Platform initiated by Endesa at the beginning of 2011 and made up of ten large companies, has managed to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 3 million tonnes, which is equivalent to the annual emissions of over 1,500,000 Spanish families. The energy saved during the first four years of the platform’s activity represents 20% of the platform’s commitment undertaken for 2015.
Cemex and Mango joined forces with the eight founding companies, Endesa, Cepsa, Philips Ibérica, Renfe, Meliá, Telefónica, Toyota España and Unibail Rodamco España, with the aim of using energy more efficiently and thus protecting the environment.
Accordingly, apart from the specific initiatives implemented by each company, collaboration agreements are also encouraged between companies with the aim of unifying synergies and promoting research in this area. The Platform recently helped the Juan XXIII Foundation to reduce its energy consumption by 40% by installing a more efficient lighting system.
The “Companies for energy efficiency” Platform http://www.empresaseficienciaenergetica.com/ is therefore fast becoming a leader in Spain in terms of energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction.
