- The company, a specialist in the treatment, processing and marketing of meat products, has chosen Endesa X to construct its self-consumption facility, with a capacity for 382 kWp (kilowatt peak).
- As part of this project, 20% of the electricity consumed by its factory in Cox (Alicante) will be obtained directly from a clean, renewable energy source, the sun, allowing Avecox to save on its energy bill in addition to reducing its emissions: the photovoltaic panels will provide an estimated annual saving of 43,844 euros and will prevent the emission of 173 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.
Avecox, a company with extensive history in the national agrifood sector and present in many countries around the world, is due to commission a self-consumption facility in Cox, Alicante, with the help of Endesa X, Endesa's energy services subsidiary. This photovoltaic plant, which will be commissioned in spring 2022, will supply a total of 382 kWp of power and provide savings of 22% on its energy bill.
The project, undertaken by Endesa X, forms part of a turnkey project and will consist of 715 photovoltaic modules. These facilities will generate 552,000 kWh of clean energy per year, providing Avecox with savings of 43,844 euros each year. Furthermore, bearing the current situation of the price of electricity in mind, these savings stand to increase by up to 20%, allowing the company to recover its investment in less than 6 years.
In the words of Davide Ciciliato, CEO of Endesa X, "we are very proud to be able to accompany Avecox on its journey to decarbonisation. Solar power, along with other energy efficiency initiatives, is one of the key points for addressing the energy transition in the industrial sector and Endesa X aims to adapt to the needs of our customers by implementing projects that take advantage of natural resources, such as this one for photovoltaic self-consumption".
In terms of the initiative, an Avecox spokesperson said "more important than saving on the cost of energy, without taking away from this fact, is that we will be able to contribute, insofar as possible, to caring for the environment. For instance, take the importance of plant products (wheat, soybeans or corn); which are staples in the production of bird feed, the main raw material used in our production process. Without a balanced environment, it would be impossible to obtain these products and produce our feed. Therefore, it is essential that we take care of the environment and guarantee the supply chain from the very beginning, looking both at the present and the future of Avecox. Doing so, it will be possible to secure the jobs of all those who are directly and indirectly affected".
This commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency will enable Avecox to make a qualitative leap in tandem with Endesa X and join the energy revolution, thus embarking on its own energy transition: it will be able to reduce its carbon footprint by about 173 tonnes of CO2, equivalent to 17,241 trees per year.
SGE, smart monitoring
The project undertaken on behalf of Avecox also includes an Energy Management Service (EMS), which will allow the company to monitor the energy produced at the photovoltaic plant, the energy that is self-consumed and the savings generated, all in a simple way, once it comes online. This service also enables the company to visualise its consumption in real time, detecting anomalies extra costs and deviations, and to study their causes, and with that information to design the measures required for these problems to be solved, which translates into a direct saving. The EMS does not only provide the client with data and who then has to interpret it, it also makes an analysis that enables informed decisions to be taken.
Endesa X also provides companies with comprehensive assessment throughout the process for managing existing support for self-consumption installations, that enable a significant reduction in the costs involved when installing panels, making the return on the investment even more attractive. Endesa manages this support for its clients, as well as advising them on selecting the best option for the photovoltaic installation.
