- The filling station supplying natural gas for vehicles (NGV) in Saint Etienne, France, is part of Endesa’s campaign in the region to open 40 filling stations by 2020.
- NGV filling stations offer an economic and greener alternative for haulage firms, at a time when city traffic is being restricted to curb air pollution caused mainly by fine particulates from diesel vehicles.
- The filling station, which is funded, built and operated by Endesa, is open 24 hours a day and sells compressed natural gas (CNG) and Bio-CNG.
Endesa has reinforced its commitment to regional development in France by offering through this filling station an economic and greener alternative for haulage firms, at a time when city traffic is being restricted to curb air pollution caused mainly by fine particulates from diesel vehicles. This second filling station in Saint Etienne also forms part of the company’s contribution to innovation and sustainability in the circular economy by using Bio-CNG: a renewable natural gas for vehicles (NGV). This gas is produced locally from organic waste, slashing greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 80% versus conventional fuels. The plan is for the Saint-Etienne filling station to obtain biomethane from local suppliers, such as the Furania waste water treatment plant, to also illustrate the benefits of the local circular economy. This project is a part of Endesa’s regional development drive in the region which involves opening 40 filling stations by 2020.
The Saint-Etienne filling station, which is funded, built and operated by Endesa, is open 24 hours a day and sells compressed natural gas (CNG) and Bio-CNG. Eleven local operators have already put their trust in Endesa and have an account with the filling station. Customers without an account can also pay by credit card. This project underlines Endesa’s major development drive in France and its willingness to participate on a long-term basis in the country’s energy transition.
Endesa in France
Endesa is one of the leading energy suppliers in Europe. Endesa has been operating in France since 2000, and has five offices in Paris, Lyon, Metz, Montpelier and Bordeaux.
Rather than just being an energy supplier, Endesa is actually an energy partner for its customers. Committed to the energy transition, the group offers a range of services, especially for sustainable mobility, through its NGV filling stations.
As a true end-to-end player, Endesa combines its technical experience, filling station operations, finance and track-record in natural gas markets to meet the needs of each and every customer.
The company currently sees the development of NGV as a linchpin in its regional growth strategy in France, and is keen to quickly roll out a network of filling stations across the country.
