- The agreement is valid for 3 years (2022-2024) and includes the company's 70 car parks across Spain.
- This will stop the release of more than 1,550 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.
Endesa and Parkia have extended their partnership with the addition of 100% renewable energy to the electricity supply agreement they signed two years ago. All Parkia companies, which has 70 public car parks across Spain, have already begun to enjoy green energy. The agreement is valid for 3 years (2022-2024) and involves an approximate volume of 6.2 GWh/year.
Endesa guarantees that 100% of the energy will be certified with guarantee of origin (GdOs) issued by the Spanish Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC). This will enable the operator of public car parks to significantly reduce its carbon footprint by avoiding the release of more than 1,550 tons of CO2 per year into the atmosphere, the equivalent of the emissions absorbed by 2,614 trees over 40 years.
The agreement between Endesa and Parkia shows their firm commitment to the environment and adds to the partnership they launched two years ago to promote electric mobility as a tool to enhance the fight against climate change. Endesa X, the business line that offers innovative solutions to support the energy transition, has 127 charging stations for electric vehicles operating in Parkia car parks, thus providing access to recharges in 27 Spanish provinces.
In the words of Arturo Sanz, Endesa's B2B Marketing Director, "with the addition of renewable energy, we consolidate our relationship with Parkia in a context of energy transition where, together, we must contribute to the success of sustainability objectives". Endesa has brought its commitment to zero emissions forward by ten years, to 2040; and, in 2024, 92% of the company's peninsular production will already be free of CO2 emissions. Also, 89% of the planned investment for the next three years is directly related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Julio López, General Director of Parkia, stresses "the crucial role that Parkia's car parks provide in tomorrow's new cities, not only investing in sustainable urban mobility, but also in efficient consumption and renewable energy in our facilities and vehicle charging stations. This agreement with Endesa allows us to advance in our commitment to sustainability and the fight against climate change, as set forth in our strategic plan".
