- The goal is to install 4 chargers in 4 of the chain establishments specialising in plants, flowers, garden accessories and pets.
- The units are located in the public car parks of the centres, have exclusive parking and charging areas and are universal, that is, they can be used with any model of electric vehicle on the market.
- Any user will be able to access the charging stations through the free Endesa X app, JuicePass, which allows to manage the vehicle's charging process directly from a mobile phone: view stations, book in advance, pay, etc.
- This agreement is part of Endesa X's public charging infrastructure development plan, which envisages the installation of a total of 8,500 charging stations at the end of 2023 cross Spain.
Endesa X and Garden Center Verdecora have signed a collaboration agreement to further boost electric mobility in our country and take a step further in their commitment to sustainable development and transport decarbonisation.
The goal is that users can charge the battery of their electric cars when they go to Verdecora stores and for this purpose, 16 charging stations in total will be installed in 4 stores: Málaga (already operational); Torrelodones (installation ongoing); Arroyo Culebro (Madrid) and Paterna (Valencia), under study.
This initiative is another expression of Endesa X's commitment to zero-emission mobility and to make charging infrastructure available where users need it during their daily activities.
With this attitude in mind, and considering that these are malls where users spend a little more time, semi-fast charging equipment has been installed so that 80% of the vehicle's battery can be recharged in about an hour with the 22 kW available. In the mall of Torrelodones (Madrid), a fast charger has selected chosen as it is very close to the A6 motorway, in order to reduce the charging time to less than half an hour.
All installed charging infrastructure is publicly accessible and open to all users: Anyone can make use of them, even if they are not shopping at Verdecora or are not current Endesa customer.
The units are available in the public car parks of each mall during commercial hours and has an exclusive parking and charging area for electric cars.
The spirit of the agreement is to expand the number of charging stations in the Verdecora stores to accompany the growth of electric mobility among Verdecora customers and their shopping experience.
According to Manuel Muñoz, head of the Endesa X charging infrastructure plan, "for the development of our charging infrastructure plan, which we have been developing for two years and with which we will install 8,500 stations until 2023, it is essential to have partners like Verdecora who share this commitment with decarbonisation of transport and fighting against climate change. And thanks to them too, we can make zero-emission mobility a little more accessible for everyone and continue to remove barriers, such as charging issues."
"Commitment with efficient energy use and promoting sustainable development are key to both our business model and our philosophy since Verdecora opened its doors almost three decades ago," says Fernando de Ángel Gimeno, CEO of Verdecora, "having these charging stations in our stores not only reinforces our strong environmental commitment, it also promotes the culture shift we need to make sustainability part of our lives."
JuicePass: Manage charging from your mobile phone
To recharge, you just have to install the Endesa X JuicePass application on your phone, which is available completely free of charge on IOS and Android. You can login with your personal data or using your Facebook or Google profiles, and the app provides discounts in the charging process while speeding the process up. All the information about the charging station, prices and schedules can be accessed; you can also monitor the charging in real time and access your charging history and invoices.
The charging stations installed at Verdecora, like the rest of Endesa X's charging network, are connected to the Endesa X Digital Platform, so that users can locate the nearest charging station, know its status, and even book the charger in advance.
Endesa X: Electric mobility for all
The partnership with Verdecora also allows Endesa X to reinforce its commitment to boost electric mobility in our country, to facilitate change and transition to all customers, offering solutions that break down the barriers that still exist today when choosing electric mobility and that include charging needs. In short, facilitating change and transition to everyone who decides to make the leap to zero-emission mobility. And working globally for this purpose.
Regarding the company itself, both with the transformation of its own corporate fleet (today more than 30% is electric) and helping its employees to make the leap to zero-emission mobility (10% of the workforce already drives an electric car individually).
Regarding our customers, with the provision of commercial solutions (such as all-inclusive renting, OneElectric, or the publicly accessible charging infrastructure plan) that make it easier to transition to electric mobility for both private customers and businesses. And all this along with the best partners, thanks to the agreements reached with companies such as Verdecora.
Endesa X's Public Access Charging Infrastructure Plan, in particular, is a plan to make electric mobility more accessible and meet the charging needs of users without having to modify their routine (shopping malls, car parks, hotel chains, service areas, public roads, etc.). It will involve the deployment of more than 8,500 public charging stations until 2023, with an investment of 65 million euros, in two phases:
In the first phase of the plan, recently completed, work has been done to establish a network of 2,000 charging stations to connect major cities (more than 35,000 inhabitants) and roads, covering the 15,000 kilometres of main roads and urban areas, ensuring that 75% of the population will have public charging infrastructure in their municipality. This will always ensure there is a charging station less than 100 kilometres away so users can travel around the country with peace of mind.
And in the second phase (2021- 2023), more than 6,500 new charging stations will be installed to accompany the growth of the electric vehicle market, providing greater infrastructure coverage to urban areas and major strategic communication nodes, including the islands.
