- This 10-year partnership will entail preventive maintenance and technical support for these facilities provided by Endesa X, Endesa's energy services subsidiary
Endesa X and frozen goods storage rental provider GLACIARR have inked a deal to install refrigeration equipment in one of Spain's largest negative cold storage warehouses located in the Fahala logistics complex in Cártama (Malaga).
Endesa X will therefore supply and install a subcritical CO2 industrial refrigeration plant under a 10-year operating lease, ensuring that the products stored on the more than 10,600 pallets in the logistics plant are kept at a temperature of -25ºC for optimum preservation.
Endesa X will thus dip into its portfolio of comprehensive solutions to render preventive maintenance services to verify proper equipment operation and technical support so that services run optimally during the leasing term of these facilities.
The new GLACIARR facilities will thus fill the existing gap in logistics spaces of such characteristics in the Andalusian region, responding to the growing demand of companies in the area looking for local storage solutions for their products and thus forestalling unnecessary shipping and transport.
Endesa X managing director, Davide Ciciliato explains that “recent technological advances in industrial refrigeration equipment have meant that we can now satisfy our customers' needs with more optimised energy consumption, which not only reduces their energy demand, but also helps to reduce their carbon footprint. Stories like GLACIARR are proof of the confidence we have in the maximum efficiency of our solutions. After a decade assisting our customer in preventive maintenance and technical support of the installed equipment, GLACIARR trusts us to ensure that its operations are always optimised, even in terms of anticipating future breakdowns that could put its business at risk. Adapting to the energy needs of our customers and cultivating long-term relationships with them ensures that our solutions will not only meet their specific needs but also guarantee that their facilities run without a hitch”.
“This plant will boast a privileged location and state-of-the-art facilities, thus affording GLACIARR the opportunity to deliver a first-class service to its customers in unbeatable conditions in terms of quality and geographic location. This will represent another step forward in the future commitment of this company within the Raimundo Rodríguez business group, adding value to a sector such as the agri-food sector that has demonstrated its strength and resilience in the most difficult stages of our recent history”, pointed out GLACIARR CEO, Óscar Rodríguez.
These new facilities will stand in the Fahala logistics complex in Cártama, which is developed by the company Newddock. This complex comprises three buildings with warehouse and office space, covering a built-up area of 57,500 m² on a total land area of 85,000 m² across two plots. It has become the new environmental benchmark in the province of Malaga and is remarkable for being the first project in Andalusia to be a candidate for LEED PLATINUM environmental certification.
GLACIARR's new storage warehouse has a surface area of more than 5,300 m², the equivalent of two thirds of the La Rosaleda football pitch, of which 4,000 m² correspond to a negative cold storage capacity of up to 10,600 pallet spaces that will be used by customers to store their products prior to final delivery. For this purpose, the facility will have a total cooling capacity of 627 kW, which means a power per unit volume of 29.54 W/m3.
This deal comes under the initiatives developed by Endesa X to provide state-of-the-art solutions to companies, through the installation of efficient equipment adapted to their needs that help companies to implement their energy transition processes through the electrification of energy use, thus promoting the reduction of their ecological footprint.
