- Since 2016, both of these institutions have been collaborating to promote academic excellence, with a commitment to quality and innovative education and the promotion of STEM vocations to train the professionals of the future.
- This programme will benefit 45 students who have met two requirements: An excellent academic record and limited financial resources.
For the seventh consecutive year, the Endesa Foundation is awarding its Scholarships and Prizes for Academic Excellence to students from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas with an outstanding, excellent academic record. During the 2023-2024 academic year a total of 45 students benefit from this programme. Of these, 42 will be awarded scholarship, whilst 31 are renewing their scholarship and 11 are new students. Three of them have also received awards for having the best academic records during the 2022-2023 academic year. The scholarship recipients will receive grants to cover between 40 and 85% of the cost of their studies whilst the winners will receive €10,000 to undertake postgraduate studies.
The presentation of the Scholarships and Awards for Academic Excellence took place yesterday evening at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid in a ceremony attended by the Rector of the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Enrique Sanz, SJ; the Vice-Rector for Students and Alumni, Belén Urosa; the General Manager for Economic Affairs and Business Relations, Enrique Marazuela; the Chairman of the Endesa Foundation, Juan Sánchez-Calero; the Chief Executive Officer of Endesa, José Bogas, and the General Manager of the Endesa Foundation, María Malaxechevarría.
This programme, which has been in place since 2016 by the Universidad Pontificia Comillas, one of the most prestigious and top-level academic institutions in Spain, is yet another example of the Endesa Foundation's commitment to quality and innovative education and the promotion of STEM vocations for young people to help create a society with more opportunities.
"This year the Endesa Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary, a quarter of a century which enables us to look back, with the satisfaction of having established ourselves as a Foundation committed to excellence and the promotion of young talent, and to look forwards with the illusion of continuing to progress along the path of helping that talent to come to fruition", said Juan Sánchez-Calero, Chairman of the Endesa Foundation.
ºIgnacio García, Manager of the Comillas Study Grants Office, stressed that "once again this year we have the opportunity to acknowledge the talent of Comillas students and to thank the Endesa Foundation for its commitment".
To benefit from this programme, students need to meet two requirements: An excellent academic record and limited financial resources. All the students belong to the faculties of Economics and Business Administration and Law (Comillas ICADE) and the School of Engineering (Comillas ICAI) and were chosen in October by a Selection Committee.
One of them was María Dolores Corpa, who is in the 3rd year of a Degree in Industrial Technology Engineering at Comillas ICAI. "These scholarships have helped me get started not only a path of professional training but also a personal one," she says. "I now fully understand the value of free education, as exemplified by the Endesa Foundation with these scholarships, the importance of giving without receiving, both here with colleagues and with the family".
"These scholarships and awards are a clear example of our commitment to promoting talent and high-quality education," said José Bogas, Chief Executive Officer of Endesa, who also congratulated the students, thanking them for their hard work and encouraging them to "keep their heads up and take advantage of the opportunities offered to you".
