- South Summit brings together the most promising startups and international corporations and investors from 3-5 October 2018 at the LA N@VE municipal space in Madrid.
- The meeting will once again bring together the main players in the global entrepreneurial ecosystem. Last year’s edition featured more than 450 speakers of international renown, some 12,000 attendees, more than 6,000 entrepreneurs and 650 investors with an investment portfolio of over 34,000 million dollars.
- South Summit is organised by Spain Startup and IE Business School and benefits from the backing of Endesa for the fifth consecutive year, along with Banco Sabadell’s BStartup and Google for Entrepreeurs.
- As part of its open innovation model, Endesa is continuing its close relationship with entrepreneurs who are a source of solutions needed to continuously modernise both the products and services that the company offers its customers, and its internal processes. South Summit is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the company’s innovation, modernisation and digital transformation drive.
Working closely with entrepreneurs is still Endesa’s goal when participating for the fifth consecutive year in South Summit, the largest entrepreneurship exhibition in southern Europe. This year, it will be held from 3 to 5 October, again in the N@VE – the centre of inspiration, education and open innovation which the city of Madrid hopes will transform the economic and social future of its inhabitants.
South Summit is organised by Spain Startup and IE Business School, and will again be a meeting point for the most innovative startups and main international investment funds and the most innovative corporations, including Endesa, which is again one of the global partners at the event. The last edition featured more than 450 speakers of international renown, more than 12,500 attendees, 6,700 entrepreneurs and 650 investors with an investment portfolio of over 34,000 million dollars.
In the forthcoming edition, Endesa will again host a stand in the area known as the market place, where all of the other participants will also meet. The stand will serve to showcase the company’s different initiatives related with entrepreneurship, and its innovation model – an open model that fosters a close relationship with entrepreneurs to develop solutions that allow the current energy model to be transformed.
The 100 startup finalists of South Summit will also be at this market place, selected from among the 3,000+ projects submitted for the Startup Competition. The 100 startup finalists come from 84 countries; 48% of the projects are from Spain and 10% belong to the energy and industrial sector. Key criteria for selecting the finalists included the degree of innovation involved in each project and its economic feasibility and scalability, as well as the team involved and whether the project generates investor interest.
Awards
Moreover, the three-day event – which will provide a perfect space for the establishment of new startups in Spain, attracting more entrepreneurs to our country and creating an efficient investor network – will conclude with an awards ceremony. The 100 startup finalists will have the opportunity to present their ideas and be proclaimed the winner of the various categories: Fintech, Smart Mobility, Energy & Sustainability, Travel & Tourism Healthcare & Biotech, Content & Channels, B2C Projects, and Software and Hardware Solutions for Companies. Endesa will sit on the competition jury responsible for choosing the startups that win the competition in the Energy & Sustainability category.
In addition, category winners may also be named overall winner of this year’s South Summit, and go to the Startup World Cup competition in Silicon Valley, where about 20 winning startups from different countries will compete for a one-million-dollar prize
