- On 10 June at 8.30 pm, the soprano Carmen Mateo and the baritone Javier Agudo, together with the pianists Cristina Sanz and Eva Pavón -members of the CRESCENDO programme- will perform on the float of the Teatro Real, which will be located in the Plaza de Colón in Valladolid.
- It will be the first performance on the Float of the Teatro Real outside the Community of Madrid and the first of a series of performances that will take music and opera to different parts of mainland Spain, a project sponsored by Endesa.
- The itinerant float is one of the initiatives of the 'Teatro Real - Cerca de Ti' programme with Endesa, approved by the Council of Ministers as an 'Event of Exceptional Public Interest', valid until the end of the season.
On Friday 10 June at 8:30 p.m., the soprano Carmen Mateo and the baritone Javier Agudo, accompanied on the piano by Cristina Sanz and Eva Pavón will perform on the float of the Teatro Real, which will be located in the Plaza de Colón in Valladolid. They will perform a very attractive, popular and varied programme, created for the occasion, which includes well-known arias and duets by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giuseppe Verdi, Richard Wagner, Amilcare Ponchielli, Giacomo Puccini and fragments of zarzuela by Manuel Penella Moreno, Pablo Sorozábal and Ruperto Chapí.
The float, which will leave Madrid for the first time, will be located in the iconic Plaza Colón in Valladolid, where 1,000 seats will be placed to be occupied by spectators free of charge.
Created in 2020, the float of the Teatro Real is 16 metres long by 5.80 metres high and weighs about five and a half tons. It simulates a theatre stage – with a proscenium, curtains and wings – and was built by transforming the trailer of a lorry like those usually used to transport and store the scenery, props and costumes for operas. Its interior can be adapted for different stage designs, exhibitions, recitals and concerts depending on what is required for each event or performance.
The two singers and the two pianists who will perform in Valladolid are part of the second edition of the CRESCENDO programme, created by the Friends of the Teatro Real Foundation.
The vocation of this international project is to be educational and inclusive and to complement the academic training acquired by young singers in their study centres by offering them workshops, master classes, debates and a number of transversal activities that enrich their artistic and human development to help them enjoy a professional career that is very demanding, exposed to the public and competitive. But perhaps the most important and stimulating dimension of the project is the creation of real opportunities for young participants to start their professional careers, with performances involving different initiatives of the Teatro Real, such as the performances on the Float planned for all of Spain.
This living stage, with the capacity to present shows and concerts in different formats to the entire Spanish mainland territory, is one of the initiatives included in the 'Teatro Real - Cerca de Ti' programme with Endesa.
