- This weekend, (16 and 17 September,) the Supercopa Endesa will kick off the new season with the best of Spanish basketball. Murcia will host the competition that marks the start of the season with an incredible lineup: Real Madrid, the reigning champion, will face Barça, winner of the previous Liga Endesa while the hosts, UCAM Murcia, will take on last season's winners of the Copa del Rey, Unicaja.
The Palacio de los Deportes in Murcia will play host to the first official title to be disputed this season, the Supercopa Endesa 2023, which will see some of the season's biggest stars hit the court, starting with a mouthwatering Barça –Real Madrid dual. The classic is a match not to miss, with Spanish international Willy Hernangómez taking on his former team and Facundo Campazzo in the lineup of the reigning champions returning to Murcia, where he first shone on his arrival to the Liga Endesa.
On the other side of the draw, a strengthened UCAM Murcia will see newcomers Dylan Ennis, Simon Birgander or Ludde Hakanson take on Unicaja. The Malaga based club is looking to consolidate its position as a clear contender for titles in one of the two semi finals that are expected to be very even. Barça - Real Madrid will be disputed on Saturday 16 at 6:30 p.m. while UCAM Murcia - Unicaja will play at 9:30 p.m., with the grand final being disputed on Sunday 17 at 7:00 p.m.
Basketball fans who watch the Supercopa Endesa live will have more incentives than ever to get involved in the action both on and off the court. Endesa will give a young fan in each match the opportunity to be the Niñ@ Ball tasked with delivering the official match ball, while a number of attendees will be chosen* live to fight for their favourite team's shirt as part of challenges on court during the breaks between quarters.
Spectators will also have the chance to have a great time with the whole family, as Endesa will have a children's area with superhero-themed face painting, colouring workshop and much more.
To participate in the challenges, those interested must go to the Endesa Space desk located in the Palacio de los Deportes de Murcia to have their name included in the draw.
