Endesa Play returns to the stage with a second edition that redoubles its commitment to emerging musical talent in Spain. Following the success of its debut in 2025 — with 441 registered artists and more than 100,000 online votes in its final phase — the initiative is expanding its prizes, incorporating new alliances, holding three live semi-finals (Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville), and multiplying the stages where winning bands can showcase their music.
This year, the contest once again counts the specialised music magazine Mondo Sonoro as a collaborator, adds two leading festivals, Icónica Santalucía Sevilla Fest and Espacio Zity Zaragoza, and confirms its presence at the 2027 Copa de la Reina. These stages join the established lineup: Jardín de las Delicias in Madrid and the Liga Endesa Playoff Final. Added to these new features is the incorporation of the Spanish Basketball Federation, which joins the existing collaboration with the ACB to bring music to the two major team competitions in Spanish basketball: the Liga Endesa and the Women’s Endesa League.
Siloé, ambassadors for the 2026 edition
Indie band Siloé takes over from Sidecars as Endesa Play ambassadors, reinforcing their bond with new talent. As they point out, “we are delighted to support those who are just starting their journey in music. We know what it means to have someone believe in your project when you are still finding your voice. Endesa Play is that megaphone we all dream of having at the beginning, and we are thrilled to see how this initiative opens up real stages and opportunities for new bands to showcase their work and grow.”
More stages for emerging bands
This year, the number of musical acts receiving a prize increases from three to five, and they will perform, at a minimum, at the following events:
- Icónica Santalucía Sevilla Fest 2026 (New)
- Espacio Zity Zaragoza 2026 (New)
- Jardín de las Delicias in Madrid 2026
- Liga Endesa Playoff Final 2026
- Copa de la Reina 2027 (New)
Registration is now open and the process is as follows: any emerging band with an original, copyright-free song, whose members are over 18 and reside in Spain, can sign up now until 22 March. You must upload your entry to Instagram using the hashtag #EndesaPlay and complete the form available here. On 20 April, the 15 semi-finalists will be announced. They will perform at one of the three live semi-finals of their choice: Madrid, Barcelona, or Seville.
From these performances, three finalists will be selected, while the fourth and fifth will be chosen by the public through an online vote, with results to be announced during the week of 18 May, ensuring everything is ready for the grand finale in early June in Madrid. At the final gala, the artists will perform their song live before the jury, which will decide which artists receive each of the Endesa Play prizes. The entire process will be hosted by music experts Ana Medina, Ángel Carmona, and Oski.
Endesa reinforces its commitment to emerging music
Ignacio Asensi, Head of Sponsorships at Endesa, highlights the purpose driving this initiative: “Through Endesa Play, we support emerging talent, bringing them to major stages and connecting them with sports audiences, as happened recently with the performances by La Última Copa and La Azotea at the Copa del Rey in Valencia. Expanding alliances, adding festivals, and opening up new opportunities reflects our commitment to those taking their first steps in music, whom we support far beyond the awards gala.”
The close connection with the artists and offering spaces to showcase their work throughout the year are two of the contest features that both La Última Copa and La Azotea, winner and finalist respectively of the first edition of Endesa Play, have appreciated the most: the former stated they felt part “of a community that believes in your music and your talent.” The Madrid duo highlighted “the prize of playing at Jardín de las Delicias and the fact that Endesa has also secured incredible events for us, such as the presentation of the men’s national basketball team or, just a few days ago, the Copa del Rey in Valencia. These are incredible moments of connection with the audience, with other emerging bands, and with established ones like Sidecars, the ambassadors of the first edition.”
For La Azotea, the prize was performing at the Liga Endesa Playoff Final, one of “the many incredible experiences this contest has given us and that will stay with us for life,” according to the band themselves. “In Endesa Play, we artists felt very comfortable and were allowed to enjoy every second. Based on last year’s experience, we strongly recommend that all bands sign up for the contest,” La Azotea stated.
Siloé and basketball stars: “Follow our beat”.
