Endesa lent its Ferrol port terminal this week for the filmmaker Alejandro Amenábar to shoot his first television series, “La Fortuna”. This decision, which is part of the cultural patronage programme developed by the company, has also reached the employees themselves, who have collaborated in the fitting-out of the facilities.
“La Fortuna” is a project for Movistar+ that tells a story related to the looting of the frigate “Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes”, sunk in 1804 during a battle that was fought in the Gulf of Cádiz. The ship was carrying valuable cargo that was purloined in 2007 by an American treasure-hunting company.
The cast of the television series includes Manolo Solo (Goya 2017), Karra Elejalde (Goya 2010 and 2014), Ana Polvorosa (Union of Actors Award 2010, 2011 and 2018), Pedro Casablanc (Award of the Union of Actors 1998 and 2001) and Stanley Tucci (Emmy Award 1999 and 2007 and Oscar nominee in 2009) and Álvaro Mel, among others.
Endesa has a terminal in the outer port of Ferrol for the loading, unloading and storage of bulk and other merchandise and through which it also imports fuel for its As Pontes generation complex, also in the province of A Coruña. This infrastructure has a deep water dock and two giant unloaders in the structure of which the production team placed lighting equipment and cameras to film what happened on a ship where part of the plot takes place.
Furthermore, Endesa offered Amenábar additional surface area on which various pieces of technical equipment were installed. The team is also occupying a part of the terminal building, which it is using for its dressing rooms. Filming, which will end tomorrow, has always taken place at night, due to the requirements of the script.
