The +50 Emprende Awards, the most important entrepreneurial event on the calendar when it comes to senior talent in Spain, has resumed its physical format that had to be suspended on account of the pandemic. The third edition of these awards, organised by Generación SAVIA, the project run jointly by the Endesa Foundation and máshumano Foundation to promote senior talent, and production company 02:59 Films, will visit Madrid, Seville, Zamora and Barcelona with a view to identifying and supporting new ideas and business projects promoted by Spanish entrepreneurs aged over 50. Furthermore, the deadline for submitting candidacies online has been extended to 3 December.
The tour will begin on Wednesday November 17, as part of the annual Generación SAVIA meeting to be held in Madrid under the motto "Promoting senior talent". To this end, a space will be set up in the foyer of Endesa's headquarters, where entrepreneurs can record videos of up to 3 minutes in length, providing them with the opportunity to explain their business projects. The aim of this initiative is to help reconstruct the Spanish entrepreneurial fabric, which was seriously damaged by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The +50 Emprende Awards tour, supported by ENISA, the National Company for Innovation at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, will make a further five stops, where spaces will be set up to allow senior entrepreneurs to record videos and explain their business projects and ideas. On Monday November 22, it will arrive at the Chamber of Commerce of Seville; while on Friday November 26, it will stop at the Vida Silver Congress to be held at IFEMA Madrid. On Saturday November 27, it will arrive at the 1st European Conference on Silver Technology to be held at the Zamora fairgrounds, organised by the provincial council and Rural Innovation Hubs. On Monday November 29, it will travel to Barcelona, with the support of the provincial council, before finally returning to Madrid on Wednesday December 3, thanks to the LOOM community.
The awards are due to hand out 18,000 euros in cash and consultancy worth 12,000 euros to senior entrepreneurs. The initiative ranking first will receive a total of 10,000 euros, the second will receive 5,000 euros and the third will receive 3,000 euros. In addition to these amounts, the +50 Emprende Awards feature a range of in-kind awards granted by its collaborators. As a result, the three winning projects will receive fixed positions at LOOM spaces, legal consultancy services as regards the protection of innovation offered by Arrabe Integra, and online training to consolidate business plans provided by 50 Pro.
Since their creation in 2019, the +50 Emprende Awards have proved very popular. The first two editions held (2019 and 2020)saw 532 projects submitted, with more than 700 entrepreneurs participating.
About the +50 Emprende Awards
The +50 Emprende Awards were conceived by 02:59 Films, the audiovisual producer of the feature film "Abuelos" (Santiago Requejo, 2019) and are organised in collaboration with Generación SAVIA. The organisations share a conviction that a cultural change is necessary to overcome prejudice and age discrimination in the workplace. This is an issue that affects around one million people over the age of 50 who have been prematurely removed from their posts. The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly increased this risk for everybody, although senior professionals at particularly at risk. It is hoped that progress with vaccination campaigns will reverse this circumstance. Our goal is to identify, promote and accompany the talent of those aged over fifty through the most important senior entrepreneurship awards in Spain.
