The gas tanker Adriano Knutsen, which is the largest vessel under the Spanish flag at 300 metres long, 48 metres wide and 26.4 metres deep, chartered by Endesa and built by the shipping company Knutsen, set sail yesterday from the Hyundai-Hi shipyard in Ulsan (South Korea), bound for Qatar. This giant, with storage capacity for 180,000 cubic metres of LNG (equal to one day's gas demand for the whole of Spain), will unload for the first time at the Port of Barcelona towards the end of August.
This is the first of the new generation of tankers with a complete reliquefaction system on board which Endesa will mainly use for transporting the LNG acquired by Endesa from Corpus Christi Liquefaction LLC (Cheniere Energy Group) under the 2-bcma (two billion cubic metres per annum) sale agreement for the next 20 years, and through other closed contracts with other points of origin, as on this occasion.
