Endesa has signed a €132.4 million euro agreement with Lyntia assigning it exclusive, long-term rights to use its surplus dark fibre optic network. The agreement includes approximately 7,500 kilometres of fibre optic owned by Endesa or third parties, which Endesa has rights to use. The agreement also includes the assignment to Lyntia of Endesa's portfolio of contracts with fibre optic customers, and site rental.
Fibre optic extends mainly along high-, medium- and low-voltage lines in the areas where Endesa has its biggest presence, such as Andalusia, Badajoz, Catalonia, Aragon, Galicia, León, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands and Ceuta.
This transaction comes about within a market context in which there is interest in investing in telecommunications infrastructure, which has facilitated the assignment of a non-strategic asset for Endesa.
