The future will either be sustainable, or it will not be. Energy efficiency and electrification are two words that we must not only engrave in our memory, but we must also increasingly include in our day to day life if we want an intelligent transition towards a sustainable energy model for Spain in 2050.
Alongside energy efficiency measures, electrification of the economy is the only way to achieve decarbonisation targets. According to a survey conducted by PWC, eight out of ten electricity companies are already working on adapting our business model to new environmental challenges. However, if we want something, it always comes at a price. The Energy Transitions Commission (ETC) estimates that it will take some €66.2 billion to reach electrification of at least 70% of energy demand by 2050.
Without a doubt, the time is now. The demand for efficient and cost-effective electrification is growing. Not only in consumption, since the increase in renewable energies will end up decreasing the average cost of energy paid by consumers; but also when it comes to meeting climate objectives and improving the present and future environment.
"The increase in renewable energies will end up decreasing the average cost paid by consumers".
At Endesa X, we understand electrification as a transition of technology and innovation that ranges from electric mobility, through intelligent management services, to self-consumption systems, among many other factors. That is why, when we talk about the green economy, not only is the decarbonisation of demand vital, but also of urban consumption, housing, industry and mobility.
Furthermore, for energy transition to make sense, it is necessary to combine electrification and digitalisation. The application of the latter to electrical ecosystems makes it possible to introduce greater flexibility, control and efficiency in consumption and costs.
"We understand electrification as a transition of technology and innovation".
More and more people are committed to innovation and sustainability. Therefore, we develop digital products and solutions around four basic pillars (e-Home, e-Industries, e-City and e-Mobility) on which we are building the future of energy.
Through e-Home, we offer our customers solutions for their installations and power and gas energy consumption. We also have a full range of energy equipment, including smart home devices, charging stations for electric vehicles and photovoltaic solar installations. In addition, we also provide a "turnkey" solution of the solar installation that accompanies the self-consumption rate, making it possible to optimise the expense with solar production and incorporate remuneration for the excess that the customer does not consume.
e-Industries is a business unit that allows industrial customers to obtain significant value by joining energy transition, through an ecosystem of solutions designed for companies that help them in their decarbonisation processes. Our value proposition, therefore, focuses on decarbonisation, circularity and energy saving. Through these pillars we offer, among other things, solutions ranging from energy advice to the implementation of energy saving and efficiency measures, as well as end-to-end infrastructure and energy management services that allow customers to optimise and monetise their energy demand and their own infrastructures.
Through e-City we help municipalities develop more sustainable cities, providing an ecosystem of electrified and digitised urban infrastructures. In this case, we facilitate the transition to a smart city by offering products and services that intelligently manage the different services of the city. We have half a century of experience in the energy sector, which we combine with cutting-edge technologies such as Big Data and digital platforms to develop the most advanced urban solutions and services.
"We have experience in the energy sector that we combine with cutting-edge technologies to develop more advanced urban services".
Finally, the e-Mobility unit, focused on electric mobility, allows people, cities and companies to participate in turning mobility electric, thanks to a tailor-made and scalable ecosystem of smart charging solutions, both in the public and private spheres, and vehicle fleets. By the end of 2020, Endesa X already had more than 2,000 charging stations installed in Spain, with the aim of ensuring that the planning of long trips is not a challenge.
There is no doubt that we must continue to contribute to making our cities increasingly clean and sustainable from an energy point of view. Therefore, we will continue to work to raise awareness of the positive impacts of electrification on the quality of life of people and, above all, that of our planet.
