This year we have become part of the Mallorca Live Festival family as a sustainable sponsor and we could not be more excited. From 18 to 20 May, the Antiguo Aquapark Calvià will be the venue for one of the summer's musical events and we would like to introduce you one by one to the bands and artists that will be performing over the weekend on the Endesa stage.
Thursday, the multi-coloured Fiesta de Ginebras y Carlangas
To break the ice we will have Courting, an up-and-coming band from the United Kingdom. Fantastic sound and rhythm that will delight Pavement and Sports Team fans. This young four-piece first appeared in 2019 with the single 'Not Yr Man', and it wasn't until last autumn when they presented their first album, "Guitar Music". Shortly after comes one of the concerts we've been waiting for, with Carlangas, his premiere as a solo artist after the break-up of Novedades Carminha. This boy from Galicia starts with an eponymous album with the collaboration of Manu Chao and the style is so much freer with an approach to other urban music styles.
León Benavente will be one of the next to appear on stage. The band has been together for 10 years, and they celebrate it on their new single "Nuestro aniversario" and they seem to find it just as incredible as we do. It seems like only yesterday when they brought out their exciting first album that was initially just a side project for Nacho Vegas. To top it all off we have one of Spanish pop's latest revelations, Ginebras. The project is led by Sandra Sabater and Magüi Berto and is a hit wherever it goes with the catchiest songs and a completely unprejudiced rock that just brings different generations together.
An amazing Friday full of local talent
Friday gives us a great opportunity to discover local talent, starting with Ombra. With three albums released and experience behind them appearing at the best national festivals, they will put on a hard-rock, joyful, fresh show as they always do. Next comes a renowned Mallorcan, Luis Alberto Segura and his L. A. who are back together and this year published a deluxe reissue of "Heavenly Hell", the album that catapulted them to success back in 2009. The reissue was accompanied by a new tour that brings them to this MLF, where they will perform the entire album together with a selection of their best known songs.
We then move into the field of urban music but without leaving the vibrant Mallorca scene which brought us Dollar Selmouni. This actor, who recently appeared in films such as "Centauro" by Daniel Calparsoro, started sharing his music on YouTube in 2017 and eventually triumphed on the Spanish hip hop scene, releasing two albums. And Friday night closes with some old friends of ours. From Portland, The Dandy Warhols and their timeless classic 'Bohemian like you'. This veteran alternative rock band is here to present what will be their twelfth release, "The Black Album".
Saturday and an eclectic end of party, new punk and the best urban music
Saturday arrives and we hope you have some strength left because to start of we have Fundación Francisco Frankenstein, who are also playing at home. Power, a sense of humour and punk acidity so Siniestro Total. They have just released a new single, 'No estamos muertos'. To keep things up tempo, from Britain we have The Reytons. They started out in 2017 in Rotherham and were very much in the Arctic Monkeys style with songs like 'On the back burner' and '15 minutes in the algorithm' that opens their second album, "What's Rock and roll?", released at the beginning of the year. They may not know what rock and roll is, but they do know how to get you dancing.
Another one who knows all about dancing is Yendry, Dominican singer who took his first steps in the Italian X Factor and then fronting the band Matareniera. He would soon become a great solo artist with a mixture of pop with Latin rhythms, giving us songs like 'Barrio' or 'Nena', of which there was a successful version two years ago in the "Colors" sessions, the platform that discovered artists like Billie Eilish, Nathy Peluso and even Ralphie Choo, who will close the day on the Endesa stage with his exciting cocktail of sounds. This young artist from Madrid is one of the spearheads of the so-called Generation Z, with a fabulous open-mindedness when it comes to styles and genres, with a warm sound and a constant desire to experiment.
