A different way of meeting the energy challenges of the present and the future, which seeks to innovate but with the focus on accelerating sustainability.
- As a new feature this year, Endesa organised "Endesa Startup Lovers" (Thursday, 9 June, from 4pm to 6pm, in the "1 to 1 meeting" room), a "speed dating" event between entrepreneurs of different profiles to promote the creation of new companies.
Endesa is participating in a new edition of the South Summit, the largest exhibition of innovation and entrepreneurship in southern Europe, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary on from 8 to 10 June at La Nave in Madrid, under the slogan "[de]coding complexity", a concept with which the organisation proposes to decode the combinatory complexity through technology and ecosystems.
Ten years of innovation, ten years of Endesa's collaboration with South Summit since its foundation. The company remains committed to "Innovability", innovation as a driver of sustainability. Under the slogan "We are Innovability, Let's walk the talk" our aim is to encourage the entire ecosystem to continue working for a decarbonised, electrified, digitalised economy with the focus on people.
José Mínguez Matorras, Head of Market Innovation Iberia Endesa, pointed out in this regard that "Endesa adopted this open model from the very beginning to find quality ideas that help us grow. When it comes to developing this new culture, our purpose is the development of innovative solutions capable of transforming the current energy model. Meetings such as South Summit are the best scenario to demonstrate the support and experience that Endesa provides for national and international start-ups and the best talent to promote collaboration and the exchange of ideas. This year, we would like to promote the creation of new start-ups and share our best open innovation projects, as well as highlighting the know-how we share as a result of the start-ups with which we work on different projects".
10 years of South Summit
South Summit is organised by Spain Startup and IE Business School and will once again become a meeting point for the newest start-ups with the main international investment funds and the most innovative corporations; these include Endesa, which once again is a Global Partner for an event that gets bigger and bigger every year. In the previous edition, attendance records were broken with more than 22,000 people attending, both in person and virtually, more than 1,600 investors with an approximate portfolio of $135,000 million, 8,000 start-ups, 680 speakers and 7,000 members of corporations.
According to a report entitled "The social-economic contribution of South Summit in Spain", created by the PwC consultancy to assess the 10 years of the event, more than half of investment in Spanish start-ups has been in projects that were finalists at South Summit. What is more, the survival rate of start-ups that were finalists during these ten years doubles the average for the whole of Spain and these finalist start-ups have seen their turnover multiply by 5.5 from the year they participated to the present, to reach €3,100 million. An impact that has also been positive on employment: The figures for finalist start-ups at South Summit has multiplied by 2.6 in these years to reach the current 25,000 jobs.
