- With a power capacity of 1.6 MW, this hub is now Endesa’s most powerful charging station in Catalonia and the second most powerful in Spain, only surpassed by the one at Ciudad de la Imagen in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid (2 MW). It is also the third charging station of this kind that Endesa has installed in Catalonia and the first in the province of Barcelona.
- The charging hub features 30 charging bays using a mix of technologies, spread across three areas of the Parc Vallès shopping centre parking lot: 8 ultra-fast charging points of 300 kW, 6 fast charging points of 60 kW, and 16 semi-fast charging points of 22 kW
- Besides providing charging facilities for shopping centre visitors, this hub is a key node for electric mobility in the region, thanks to its strategic location near major highways
- With this new installation, Parc Vallès – an Endesa customer for over 15 years – now complies with regulations mandating EV charging points in certain public spaces, including shopping centres.
- The project marks a significant step forward in the energy transition and the electrification of consumption, particularly in the field of electric mobility.
- The agreement with Parc Vallès is one of hundreds Endesa has reached since 2018 as part of its efforts to develop what is now one of the largest and highest-quality public charging networks in Spain. The network now includes more than 6,200 charging points nationwide – 42% of which are fast or ultra-fast.
Today Endesa, the leading provider of integrated energy solutions, officially opened its most powerful charging hub in Catalonia and the second most powerful in Spain, located at the Parc Vallès shopping centre, just 27 km from Barcelona. To continue its electrification efforts, Parc Vallès has once again placed its trust in Endesa, its preferred electricity supplier for more than 15 years.
With a power capacity of 1.6 MW, this is now the largest ultra-fast 300 kW charging hub located at a shopping centre in Catalonia – marking a key milestone in the expansion of EV charging infrastructure in the region. Endesa’s largest charging hub remains the one at Ciudad de la Imagen in Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid), with a capacity of 2 MW. This new hub offers a total of 30 charging bays, spread across three parking areas of the shopping centre, and features a variety of charging technologies – from semi-fast to ultra-fast – providing a broad and flexible offer to meet the needs of all EV users. Whether drivers are looking for a quick top-up in just a few minutes or have more time to spare while enjoying the shopping centre's leisure and dining options, there’s a solution for everyone.
- 8 ultra-fast charging points (300 kW): ideal for drivers in a hurry, offering up to 80% battery charge in just 5 to 15 minutes.
- 6 fast charging points (60 kW): a great option for users with 30 to 60 minutes to spare – perfect for a quick shopping trip.
- 16 semi-fast charging points (22 kW): designed for those staying longer and taking full advantage of the shopping centre's leisure and dining facilities. Depending on the vehicle battery and charging capacity, users can recharge up to 80% of the battery in 2 to 4 hours.
The highlight of the hub is the set of 300 kW ultra-fast chargers. With up to 8 bays available, they can deliver up to 100 km of range in just 3 to 10 minutes. This makes them ideal for quick, efficient stops during long journeys.
The installation was developed in two phases. The first phase, completed in 2023, saw the launch of 10 semi-fast charging points in one of the parking areas. The goal was to provide Parc Vallès with an initial, solid semi-fast charging service as quickly as possible, allowing visitors to plug in and charge while enjoying the centre's wide range of entertainment, dining, and retail options. An additional 20 charging bays were installed in the second phase, expanding the range of technologies and increasing overall charging power. By combining different charging speeds – ultra-fast, fast, and semi-fast – in a single location, this hub allows every EV driver to choose the option that best suits their time, needs, or preferences.
The launch event was attended, among others, by Jordi Ballart, mayor of Terrassa; Xavier Cardona, deputy mayor for Territory and Housing and city councillor for Mobility of Terrassa; Daniel Ortiz, head of electric mobility at Endesa; and Núria Gàndara, manager of Parc Vallès.
Daniel Ortiz, head of electric mobility at Endesa, emphasised that ‘the batteries used in EVs can be charged multiple times throughout the day – at home, at work, while shopping or at the cinema. This represents a shift in mindset compared to combustion vehicles, but not necessarily a change in lifestyle. Our goal has always been to make charging as convenient as possible, allowing users to top up wherever they need. This includes convenient locations like this shopping centre at Parc Vallès, as well as along key roads and strategic areas.’
For her part, Núria Gàndara, manager of Parc Vallès, added: ‘This new ultra-fast charging hub is an important part of our strategy to make Parc Vallès a more sustainable and accessible shopping centre. It is also part of our commitment to advancing the future of mobility by ensuring our visitors can recharge their vehicles while enjoying everything the centre has to offer.’
Strategic location
The Parc Vallès shopping centre enjoys a strategic location, situated just 10 minutes from AP-7 motorway, also known as autopista del Mediterráneo. This key route connects the entire Spanish Mediterranean coast from the French border to Cádiz. It’s also very close to Barcelona and the major roads C-58 and C-16, making the charging hub a key access point not only for shoppers, but also for travellers passing through the region. These roads link Barcelona with the Vallès Occidental area and, further north, with the Bages, Berguedà and Cerdanya regions. The hub is also near the newly opened B-40, which connects Vallès with Baix Llobregat and, by extension, with neighbouring counties.
Thus, the project marks a significant step forward in the energy transition and the electrification of consumption, particularly in the field of electric mobility. With this new installation, Parc Vallès now complies with regulations mandating EV charging points in certain public spaces, including shopping centres. These chargers also underscore the centre’s commitment to sustainability: in 2023, it was awarded the BREEAM certification and later on, following renovation work, it received the Biosphere certification in early 2024. This highlights its dedication to sustainable building, tourism, management, and development practices.
How to use the chargers
The recharging process, including, booking, usage, and payment can be managed quickly and easily through Endesa’s electric mobility app. Users can easily download the app to their mobile device and manage their EV charging directly from their smartphone. The app offers convenient features such as payment processing, booking up to 15 minutes in advance, and a variety of tariff options to suit every user’s needs, including both monthly plans and pay-per-use rates.
The app is available for both iOS and Android devices, and users can register using their Facebook or Google accounts, or simply by providing an email address. Additionally, by registering, users can take advantage of favourable charging rates through the available charging tariffs and create their own account with personalised preferences and payment methods, making future recharges more convenient. Registration, however, is optional. Users can also choose to use the app without signing up and pay directly with a credit card, all within the app itself.
Charging solutions
Endesa plays a key role as a provider of integrated energy services, offering solutions that go far beyond traditional electricity and gas supply. The company supports households, businesses, and public administrations in their transition to a more efficient, sustainable, and digital energy model. To achieve this, Endesa provides its customers with integrated packages (bundles) that combine electricity, gas, electric mobility, self-consumption, efficient climate control, and value-added services, tailored to the needs of each customer profile. This way, Endesa positions itself as a strategic partner that offers a comprehensive, convenient energy experience in line with decarbonisation goals.
The agreement with Parc Vallès, an Endesa customer for over 15 years, adds to the long and impressive list of collaborations Endesa has formed since 2018 to build what is now one of the largest public charging networks in Spain. The goal is to drive electric mobility and meet the charging needs of users wherever they are, without requiring them to change their habits. With this partnership, Endesa is advancing its commitment to making electric mobility accessible to all users, with a wide range of charging options suited to different needs – whether in parking lots, shopping centres, restaurants, hotels, or hospitals. It also includes ultra-fast charging along highways at service stations, ensuring users have no doubts about making long-distance trips. In fact, as part of its public charging infrastructure development plan, Endesa has implemented 6,200 charging points across Spain, covering all technologies. It is one of the largest and highest-quality networks: 42% of the chargers are fast or ultra-fast, and nearly all offer at least 22kW of power (semi-fast charging).
In Catalonia alone, Endesa operates 1,300 charging points, with another hundred already installed and awaiting the necessary permits to begin operating. Additionally, the company has 300 more charging points planned, currently under construction or in various stages of development.
Apart from the Parc Vallès location, Endesa also has other key facilities for electric mobility in Catalonia, such as the Andamur hub at La Junquera (Girona) and the Eurotrak service area (Lleida).
Endesa’s goal for the upcoming years is to expand the charging network in line with market development and to offer its customers charging solutions wherever needed. Endesa will continue to install charging stations of all capacities, particularly focusing on fast and ultra-fast options, as part of a roll-out strategy that considers various user habits.
