With these words Coti ended his performance at halftime during the second semi-final of the Basketball "Copa del Rey". Here in Music Lover we could not agree more, music is a wonderful way of bringing people together, just like basketball. Here is a chronicle of four unforgettable days in Badalona.
"Long live the brotherhood between sport and music!" With these words Coti ended his performance at halftime during the semi-final of the Basketball "Copa del Rey" between Joventut Badalona and Lenovo Tenerife. At a point in the match when the score was very even and the passage to the final at stake, both sets of fans came together as one to dance and sing together from the stands the classic song by the Argentinian singer-songwriter 'Nada de esto fue un error'. It lasted just over five minutes and summed up the Music Lover spirit in the ACB Cup. Music is a wonderful way of bringing people together, just like basketball.
Undoubtedly, Coti's performance at halftime during the second semi-final was one of the highlights of the Music Lover and Jardín de las Delicias concert programme at the cup. Previously, during the first break, Pablo Mendez put on a show that left everyone speechless with magnificent visual content that took us to the moon.
Outside the Palau Municipal d’Esports, in the fan zone, music was also responsible for bringing together both the fans and the residents of Badalona, who also really wanted to join in the festivities on the Music Lover stage. Urban sounds played a leading role during the first two days of concerts.
On Thursday, we had Pepe Reis and Albert González on the turntables, and a performance by Aina Da Silva, one of the latest new promises on the scene. On Friday, there was the renowned 31 FAM, with a young, truly enthusiastic audience to enjoy all their greatest hits. One of band members, Koakelay, warmed everybody up before the show, under the name of KOA.
Coti's pop rock took over from the urban sound on Saturday. The singer-songwriter from Argentina put on a really professional show and played all his greatest hits. Some of them made famous by him, including 'Antes que ver el sol' and 'Nada fue un error', and others, such as 'Andar Conmigo' and 'Color Esperanza', which music lovers will remember being sung by Julieta Venegas and Diego Torres respectively. Coti was backed by a great band that provided touches of funk and blues, and he showed us once again why he is one of the top names 21st-century Spanish pop rock, and he gave us a spectacular, unforgettable show at halftime during the second semi-final of the cup.
Before the concert, the traditional meeting of fans here to enjoy the cup provided us with a party full of colour and joy at the hands of DJ Anna Gisbert. After the match, Aitor Romero was in charge of making the defeat less painful for the host club. He succeeded splendidly.
On Sunday to end of the party, nothing better than one of the greatest djs in Spain, DJ Nano. Cosmik and Victor Magan opened the show at noon in a fan zone that was slow to get going, still recovering from the party the night before: Once he got going, he was difficult to stop.
DJ Nano gave us a spectacular selection of super classics from the dance floors of the 90s and 2000s. A real space-time journey that took us from the golden age of Pont Aeri to the present, with an absolute premiere for the occasion of a fantastic remix of Dorian's hit 'Cualquier Otra Parte' that brought to an end a session full of energy and good vibrations.
It was not only the music that was a success, there were also the fantastic creatures in the Pablo Méndez Performances that left so many music lovers open-mouthed Giant grasshoppers, walking trees, dancing flowers and fairies, they all made their appearance as entertainers from imaginary worlds.
It will certainly be difficult to take in (and impossible to forget) these four days of song and basketball in Badalona. The brotherhood between music and sport which Coti spoke about has only just begun.
