- Incarlopsa is a leading company in Castile-La Mancha in the production of pork products and has been a client consuming electricity supplied by Endesa since 2019
- Incarlopsa has also chosen Endesa X, a subsidiary of Endesa, to build one of the most important self-consumption projects in its sector and in Spain: 9.60 MWp of power and 14.25 GWh of annual production, which will enable them to provide a very significant part of the energy needed in its production processes with clean and renewable energy.
- Almost 100% of the energy generated by the 21,000 photovoltaic modules will be self-consumed by the 3 Ham Dryers that Incarlopsa has in Castile-La Mancha: Corral de Almaguer, Olías del Rey and Tarancón.
- In addition to helping to reduce emissions and their electric bill, this self-consumption facility also has some innovative technical features: It takes advantage of the roofs of Incarlopsa's production plants, but instead of drilling uses an adhesive solution for the structure.
Endesa has been chosen by Incarlopsa, a global benchmark company in meat products, to accompany them on their path towards energy transition and efficient consumption by means of an agreement that addresses three factors:
1. Self-consumption
Endesa X, a subsidiary of Endesa, will build one of the most significant and innovative projects in its sector and in Spain, not only because of its size but because of the technology to be used. The installation will have a capacity of 9.60 MWp and a yearly output of 14.25 GWh, enabling it to supply up to 18% of the energy required for its production processes with clean and renewable energy. Technically it is a very innovative as it takes advantage of a significant part of the roofs of the production plants using an adhesive solution on the structure without the need for drilling and on other roofs an east-west structure has been designed with the maximum possible surface available for the photovoltaic installation. This adaptation of the design to the construction needs for the siting are a key factor for Incarlopsa given the high value of the raw materials stored there.
The project designed by Endesa X will be undertaken simultaneously in three of Incarlopsa's production sites in Spain: Corral de Almaguer, Olías del Rey and Tarancón. A total of more than 21,000 photovoltaic modules will be installed over an area of 46,000 m2, equivalent to 6 football pitches. It is expected to be constructed in 2021.
Almost 100% of the production from these installations will be self-consumed by the 3 plants. This commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency will enable Incarlopsa to make a qualitative leap in tandem with Endesa X and join the energy revolution: It will reduce their carbon footprint by about 3,500 tons of CO2/year, taking a vital step in their own move towards decarbonisation.
Self-consumption, together with other energy efficiency initiatives, will play a key role in decarbonisation in the domestic area and in the production sector. Endesa X helps customers to install solar photovoltaic technology which is completely tailored to their needs.
2. Electricity supply contract
Incarlopsa was already a customer of Endesa in 2019 and 2020 and will also continue to assess Incarlopsa in managing its energy enabling it to have competitive energy costs. To do this, they will not only provide ongoing assessment on electricity prices, but thanks to the experience of their experts, they will also make a full range of digital tools and instruments available to the company for them to take the best decisions.
3. Energy Management Service (SGE)
This year Incarlopsa has once again chosen the Endesa X Energy Management Service platform, because to save you need to know the facts, and to know the facts you need to measure. That is why a system like SGE is so important: It is how you can implement knowledge-based savings measures.
This meat production company has been using SGE for 2 years, and this has enabled it to:
- Make continuous measurements in real time of their energy consumptions and other variables (temperature, production, occupancy...).
- Analyse, report data and detect opportunities for improvement by Endesa X's team of experts.
- Design and implement solutions to improve management and/or make energy savings.
- Monitor and track energy savings with the information available on the platform.
