You have probably already heard about the carbon footprint and its consequences for the environment. Endesa will tell you what it is and how we can help you reduce it.
The term "carbon footprint" is used to talk about the amount of greenhouse gases that are discharged daily into the atmosphere. This involves all human activities.
These greenhouse gases are responsible for an increase in the temperature of the Earth, preventing the Sun's energy from leaving the atmosphere once it has been reflected by the surface, thus contributing to the global warming we are currently experiencing, one of the main causes of climate change.
The main difference with other ecological concepts is that the carbon footprint explicitly refers to the emission of greenhouse gases as a result of everyday human activity.
Endesa would like to help you calculate your carbon footprint and understand the impact it has on the environment. Every little gesture counts.
Our model focusses on the digital relationship you have with us, as well as the products you have contracted. Having a digital invoice, using video customer service, travelling by electric vehicle and contracting solar panels are all actions that can help you be more sustainable.
This is why Endesa would like to help you know what your carbon footprint is, so we can work together to reduce it. We are committed to help you become more sustainable.
Case 1: Digital invoicing activated
Marcos has decided to switch to digital invoicing to be able to receive it as soon as it has been issued, without waiting, and to avoid the unnecessary use of paper. Taking into account that a single conventional invoice (on paper) emits approximately 97 gr of CO2, by activating digital invoicing, Marcos is avoiding the discharge of a total of 1,163.97 gr of CO2 per year.
Case 2: Digital copy of contract
Marcos would also like to keep a copy of his contract on his mobile phone, in case he needs to consult it at any time. He prefers to have his documents digitalised since he is not good at saving physical copies and often loses them. By choosing this modality and avoiding being sent a paper copy, he is saving the planet a further 33.35 gr of CO2.
Case 3: Video customer service
During the year, Marcos has been gathering all the documents referring to his energy and keeping them on his electronic devices. He keeps his contract on his mobile phone and saves the invoices in a specific folder on his computer. Whenever he has any doubts, he prefers to resolve them through the video customer service, from the comfort of his living room, without having to travel. Not only is he saving a trip, he avoids generating the emission of 2.896 kg of CO2 for an average journey.
So, in one year, by activating digital invoicing, downloading a copy of his contract on his mobile and using the video customer service on two different occasions, Marcos has accumulated a total saving of 4.1 kg of CO2.
Case 4: Única tariff
Laura had already had digital invoicing activated for some time, she also has a digitalised copy of her contract and she also regularly uses the video customer service. But she decided to go one step further and contract the Única tariff, which means all the energy she consumes will be green, sustainable and renewable. The Única tariff enables her to save about 1,401.9 kg of CO2 per year, and she always pays the same.
All this means that Laura is avoiding the emission of 1,406 kg of CO2 per year.
Case 5: Using an electric vehicle
Just like Laura, Oscar also benefits from all the above services. For his work, Oscar needs to travel using his own vehicle, so when he needed need to buy a new car he opted for an electric vehicle. In this way he can continue to take care of the planet by choosing the best tariff to suit sustainable mobility and he avoids generating 2,715 kg of additional CO2 per year.
This amounts to a total reduction of CO2 emissions amounting to 4,121 kg per year.
Case 6: Installation of solar panels
Finally, Marisa has just moved to the town where she grew up. She used to live in the city and changed flats constantly, so she activated digital invoicing and downloaded a copy of her contract so it did not get lost. Since then, she uses the video customer service, much more comfortable since she can programme the day and time that best suit her schedule. She also decided to change her old motorcycle for an electric car that would make the continuous removals easier. When she arrived at her new home, she thought about installing solar panels, to take advantage of solar energy. She has an average energy consumption of 3,487 kWh so this translates into a saving of 361.3 kg of CO2 per year.
Her CO2 savings amount to 3,080.3 kg per year.
As you can see, we do not only need to take major steps to take care of the environment. Small steps are also very important and everyone, to a greater or lesser extent, can participate in this.
How much can you reduce your carbon footprint through sustainable management? Let's calculate it together.
