Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
This is an independent non-for-profit organisation that works to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the sustainable use of water by companies and cities.
At Endesa, we participate in three initiatives of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP): CDP Climate Change, CDP Supply Chain and CDP Water.
Since 2006, Endesa has taken part in the CDP Climate Change initiative, the most prestigious index in climate change matters, which provides global information on the management of the risks and opportunities identified by the largest companies worldwide. In the latest edition, Endesa has obtained an ‘A’ score, ‘Leadership’ level, a level to which only 18% of all companies participating in CDP and 25% of companies from the ‘Utilities’ sector belong. This excellent result reflects Endesa's firm commitment to the fight against climate change.
Since 2010, Endesa has involved its suppliers, requesting their cooperation by filling in the CDP Supply Chain questionnaire, with the intention of transferring the commitment to Climate Change and to the reduction of emissions. In 2017, the rate of response was over 85%, compared with the 70% average obtained by the companies participating in the initiative. The involvement of the suppliers in their response to Endesa’s request for information is well above the global average, the quantity and quality of the responses being higher than the average participation by suppliers of other companies taking part in said initiative.
In 2017, and for the eighth consecutive year, Endesa, assumed a position of leadership among Spain’s power companies, adhered to the CDP Water Disclosure, an initiative, which provides water and water-management data from the world’s largest corporations to inform the global marketplace on investment risk and commercial opportunities and to guide investors towards sustainable use of this resource. This year, the level obtained by Endesa was 'Leadership' with inclusion on the A-List, above the average sector value, which is ‘Management’. The result obtained was higher than the previous year in which Endesa achieved the ‘Leadership’ level but was not included on the A-List. Appearing on the A-List is a distinction for companies that stand out for their performance, in this case with regard to water.
