We want to transform cities and reinvent the way they work, make it easier for their inhabitants to access better and faster services, and create a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment. One of our main objectives is to improve people’s quality of life and, therefore, at Endesa X we are working to make this happen through a people-centred innovation programme.
Innovation in products and services for business customers
We want to create a city with solutions for all its citizens. In 2019 we conducted a series of interviews with technicians from municipal councils in 14 Spanish cities to jointly validate the new solutions for cities.
City Analytics is the name of the big data analysis tool that we are presenting to serve as a support for territorial planning and urban planning departments, as well as the areas of tourism, mobility and public safety. This tool makes it possible to organise the services according to effective demand. The data collected is stored in the cloud and processed, allowing the creation of statistical and forecasting models to improve the mobility and security decision-making process for events and demonstrations, or during periods with many tourists.
In addition, we have also presented new developments of public lighting solutions known as Smart Poles, which take into account the security, health, mobility and connectivity needs of the public.
Innovation in products and services for homes and small businesses
We are developing technological solutions for homes and small businesses through a variety of initiatives. At the Madrid Digital Laboratory we test new services and innovative products for our e-Home range.
In 2019 we conducted a proof of concept (PoC) of NILM technology, comparing 5 different devices and software available on the market in terms of the installation experience, functionalities and effectiveness of the devices and their applications. As a result of these tests, we now know which brand works best regarding certain aspects and therefore offer the best service to our customers.
In the Digital Lab at our Madrid headquarters, in 2019 we also conducted functional and integration tests on our Homix smart home platform. Because of these tests, we have been able to add Alexa for the use of voice commands and adapt it to other external IoT devices, such as motion sensors, cameras and aperture sensors, among others.
