ENDESA BROADCASTS A VIDEO ON “YOUTUBE” WITH GENERAL INFORMATION ON THE NEW TARIFF AND SETS UP A WEBSITE TO EXPLAIN THE CHANGES AFFECTING THE SPANISH ELECTRICITY MARKET In order to provide as many consumers possible with general information on the changes occurring in the electricity market, ENDESA has broadcast a video on “YouTube” explaining the new electricity tariff and has set up a special website. The company considers that the large number of visits received daily by “YouTube” makes this an exceptionally useful platform for disseminating this information instantly to a large number of people. ENDESA’s video on “YouTube” explains in only 10 questions and answers, using plain, easily understood language, the main features of the last resort tariff (TUR for its initials in Spanish) which will be applied today, 1 July. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tuIIA18SpY The video on “YouTube” was made using the best quality standards available on this platform. It uses H.264 encoding (one of the best compression formats available today) and five quality standards which are generated automatically depending on how the video is accessed. The maximum resolution is 1280x720 for HD format. Content can also be visualised in 16:9 / 4:3 / 11:9 format, according to the device used, and may also be accessed via the mobile phone. There are more than 200 million active members of the “YouTube” community and more than 1,200 million videos are screened daily on this platform, the equivalent to 40% of the global video market. New website: www.energiaproxima.com Given the importance of the changes taking place in the electricity market and the interest sparked among consumers, ENDESA wants to issue simple, accessible information on all media that offer an efficient way to transmit this. However, the changes occurring in the sector are somewhat complicated. Therefore, in addition to the video broadcast on “YouTube”, the company has set up a new website (www.energiaproxima.com), to offer customers, consumer associations and other organisations more detailed information on the regulatory changes taking place within the framework of full electricity market liberalisation. Among other things, this website gives users the chance to voice their doubts or request information on the new legislative procedures taking place by e-mail. Furthermore, from 10 July, www.energiaproxima.com will include web 2.0 functions, such as voting to appraise the information made available and a thermometer to gauge customers' real concerns. In both of these initiatives ENDESA uses plain, easily understood language to provide full and precise information. They also form part of the measures rolled out by ENDESA over the past few months to pave the way for the full liberalisation of the electricity market. From today regulated tariffs will no longer exist and all customers holding contracts with a distribution company will now have a contract with one of the power supply companies that already existed or with one of the newly created suppliers of last resort. Other significant actions undertaken in this area include strengthening the group’s IT systems, providing 20,000 hours of training for 2,000 sales staff and sending various information leaflets to customers over the last few weeks. The company has also held informative meetings about the regulatory developments with more than 300 consumer associations and public bodies. |
