Any RESEARCHER wishing to take part in this edition of the NOVARE prizes should present all of their PROPOSAL documentation in Spanish or English.
PROPOSALS can be submitted from midnight on 1 April, 2007 up to midnight on 31 July, 2007 exclusively via ENDESA’s website: http://www.endesa.es/.

SIXTH.- COMPETITION

ENDESA will appoint a team of people, (hereafter the JURY), which will begin to analyse the PROPOSALS the day after the closing date for their submission.
The JURY will study all the PROPOSALS received and may request, at any time, additional documentation to help it reach a decision about a PROJECT. The team will analyse the PROPOSALS, assessing the overall quality of the projects in terms of their contributions to Energy Sustainability and Technological Innovation and their Social Benefit.

After looking at the PROPOSALS and assessing their overall quality, the JURY will decide the prize winners according to a majority decision.
The judgement of the Jury will be final and will be issued before 30/10/07. Each participant will be informed of the result.

The JURY may decide not to award any or all of the NOVARE prizes, in the event that the scientific and/or technical interest of the PROPOSALS is insufficient in the view of a majority of the members of the JURY. The decision not to award prizes in any category, rather than resulting in a new competition, may mean that an extra prize is awarded in one of the other categories.

ENDESA reserves the right to cancel the launch of the NOVARE prizes, if in the judgement of the Executive Committee, circumstances arise which make it adviseable to cancel or postpone this competition.

SEVENTH.- SIGNING OF THE COLLABORATION AGREEMENT:

Prizes will be awarded once the RESEARCHER and ENDESA sign a contract, (hereafter the COLLABORATION AGREEMENT), stating the explicit acceptance of the agreement by both parties that the prize money received will be used to develop the PROJECT.

The prize will be paid in successive instalments, as the PROJECT progresses until the sum awarded has been reached, according to the funding requirements identified in the various stages of the PROJECT plan contained in the PROPOSAL. The awarding of the prize does not exclude the RESEARCHER from obtaining any other grant or contribution that is compatible with the principles governing these conditions.

Merely by entering this competition, the RESEARCHER is accepting the surrender of commercial rights deriving from the PROJECT to ENDESA, though the RESEARCHER’S intellectual property rights over the original PROPOSAL idea will still be recognised, details all of which will be included in the COLLABORATION AGREEMENT.

The RESEARCHER will, at all times, be the person responsible for carrying out the PROJECT, which will be undertaken with the use of the human or physical resources outlined in the PROPOSAL.

EIGHT.- EXCLUSIONS.

ENDESA employees, their immediate families (spouses, children, parents or siblings) are explicitly excluded from taking part in the NOVARE prizes.
Also excluded are persons and organisations whose activity is not conducted within an institution recognised for its scientific contributions to R+D (e.g., individuals or commercial suppliers of goods and services).

NINE .- PROJECT MONITORING.

ENDESA will monitor the development of the prize-winning PROJECTS and will be able to seek authorisation from the RESEARCHERS to visit their place of work and receive complementary demonstrations of their scientific knowledge and its applications, for the purpose of obtaining a broader understanding of the original idea and its development, as well as of the implementation of the PROJECT plan.

TEN.- COMMUNICATIONS.

ENDESA’s support will be prominently publicised at any communication activities organised by the RESEARCHERS in relation to the winning PROJECT (e.g. website, publication, press). At the same time, ENDESA reserves the right to publish its contributions to the winning PROJECT, using any communication media.

ELEVEN.- ACCEPTANCE.

Participation in this edition of the competition supposes the unreserved acceptance of each and every one of its conditions, without exception, and implies the acceptance of the participant of ENDESA’S decision as regards the resolution of any matter deriving from the application of these conditions, in particular relating to the JURY’S decision.

The current conditions will be filed with a notary public and will be available for consultation by any participant.
